قال ابن خالويه: القلزم مقلوب من الزلقم وهو البحر.
Ibn Khalaweh said: Al-Qalzam is an inversion of Al-Zalqam, which is the sea.
والزلقمة: الاتساع
And Al-Zalqamah: vastness.
وقوله: قد صبحت قليزما قذوما إنما أخذه من بحر القلزم شبه البئر في غزرها به وصغرها على جهة المدح كقول أوس
And his saying: 'It has become morning like a deep well, a gullet', he only took it from the Red Sea, likening it to a well in its depth and smallness for the purpose of praise, like the saying of Aws.
