And in the Hadith: The best of women is she who is 'al-ghilmah' towards her husband.

And in the Hadith of Tamim and Al-Jassasah: We encountered the sea when it 'ightalama', meaning it surged and its waves were agitated.

وفي حديث علي، رضي الله عنه: قال تجهزوا لقتال المارقين المغتلمين.
And in the Hadith of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him: Prepare yourselves to fight the renegades who have exceeded the bounds ('al-mughtalimeen').
وقال الكسائي: الاغتلام أن يتجاوز الإنسان حد ما أمر به من الخير والمباح، أي الذين جاوزوا الحد.
And Al-Kisa'i said: 'Al-ightilam' is for a person to exceed the limit of what they have been commanded in terms of good and permissible things, meaning those who have exceeded the limit.
ومننه قول عمر، رضي الله عنه: إذا اغتلمت عليكم هذه الأشربة فاكسروها بالماء.
And from it is the saying of Omar, may Allah be pleased with him: If these drinks become potent ('ightalamat') for you, dilute them with water.
ابن الأعرابي: الغلم المحبوسون، قال: ويقال فلان غلام الناس وإن كان كهلا، كقولك فلان فتى العسكر وإن كان شيخا؛
Ibn Al-A'rabi: 'Al-ghilam' are the imprisoned. He said: And it is said, 'So-and-so is the 'ghulam' of the people even if he is an old man, like your saying 'So-and-so is the 'fata' of the army even if he is an elder'.
والغلام معروف.

ابن سيده: الغلام الطار الشارب، وقيل: هو من حين يولد إلى أن يشيب، والجمع أغلمة وغلمة وغلمان، ومنهم من استغنى بغلمة عن أغلمة، وتصغير الغلمة أغيلمة على غير مكبره كأنهم صغروا أغلمة، وإن لم يقولوه، كما قالوا أصيبية في تصغير صبية، وبعضهم يقول غليمة على القياس، قال ابن بري: وبعضهم يقول صبية أيضا؛
Ibn Sidah: 'Al-ghulam' is the one with a mustache. It is said: He is from the time he is born until he becomes gray. The plural is 'aghlimah', 'ghilmah', and 'ghilman'. Some have used 'ghilmah' instead of 'aghlimah'. The diminutive of 'ghilmah' is 'aghaylimah' without its larger form, as if they made 'aghlimah' diminutive, even if they did not say it, just as they said 'usayyibiyah' for the diminutive of 'usaybiyah'. Some say 'ghulaymah' according to analogy. Ibn Al-Bari said: Some also say 'subayiyah'.
وفي حديث ابن عباس: بعثنا رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، أغيلمة بني عبد المطلب من جمع بليل ؛
And in the Hadith of Ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent us, the young boys ('aghaylimah') of Banu Abd Al-Muttalib, from Muzdalifah at night.
والأنثى غلامة؛
And the female is 'ghulamah'.
يُهان لها الغلامة والغلام وهو بين الغلومة والغلومية والغلامية، وتصغيره غليم، والعرب يقولون للكهل غلام نجيب، وهو فاش في كلامهم؛
The 'ghulamah' and the 'ghulam' are humbled for her, and he is between 'al-ghuloomah', 'al-ghuloomiyah', and 'al-ghuloomiyah'. His diminutive is 'ghulaim'. The Arabs say for an old man a distinguished 'ghulam', and this is common in their speech.
والغيلم: المرأة الحسناء، وقيل: الغيلم الجارية المغتلمة؛
And 'al-ghaylam': the beautiful woman. It is said: 'Al-ghaylam' is the aroused young woman.
قال عياض الهذلي: معي صاحب مثل حد السنان، شديد على قرنه محطم
Iyad Al-Hudhali said: With me is a companion like the point of a spear, strong and crushing against his adversary.

Al-Layth: 'Al-ghaylam' and 'al-ghaylami' is the large, broad-headed, and hairy young man.

Al-Azhari said: His statement that 'al-ghaylam' is the comb is not correct, and his citation of the verse indicates its corruption.
قال: وأنشدني غير واحد بيت الهذلي: ويحمي المضاف إذا ما دعا، إذا فر ذو اللمة الغيلم
He said: And more than one person recited to me the verse of Al-Hudhali: He protects the vulnerable when he calls, when the hairy one ('al-ghaylam') flees.
قال: وأنشدنيه غيره: كما فرق اللمة الفيلم بالفاء، قال: وهكذا أنشده ابن الأعرابي في رواية أبي العباس عنه، قال: والفيلم المشط، والغيلم: موضع في شعر عنترة؛
He said: And another recited to me: as the 'al-faylam' with faa parts the hair. He said: And thus Ibn Al-A'rabi recited it to me in the narration of Abu Al-Abbas from him. He said: And 'al-faylam' is the comb. And 'Al-Ghaylam': a place in the poetry of Antarah.
قال: كيف المزار، وقد تربع أهلها ... بعنيزتين، وأهلنا بالغيلم؟
He said: How can one visit, when its people have settled ... in 'Unayzatayn, and our people are in Al-Ghaylam?
