And for this reason Al-Nabigha said: 'not formed'; meaning, not yet mature.
وقال أبو عمرو: العنم الزعرور

وأخلف الخزامى وأينعت العنمة
And the khuzama bloomed, and the 'anama ripened.
وقيل: هو أطراف الخروب الشامي
And it is said: It is the tips of the Syrian carob.
فلم أسمع بمرضعة أمالت ... لهاة الطفل بالعنم المسوك
So I have not heard of a wet nurse who made the infant's uvula droop with the chewed 'anam.
والعنم أيضا: شوك الطلح
And al-'anam also: the thorns of the Talh tree.
والعنم الخيوط التي يتعلق بها الكرم في تعاريشه
And al-'anam are the threads by which the vine clings to its trellises.
وبنان معنم: مشبه بالعنم
And 'banan mu'annam: likened to 'anam.
وهي تريك معضدا ومعصما ... عبلا، وأطراف بنان معنما
And it shows you a strong arm and wrist... thick, and the tips of dyed fingers.
