المسام الذي تسومه أي تلزمه ولا تبرح منه
Al-masam is that which you impose upon it, meaning you obligate it and do not leave it.
أسامها هو: أرعاها، وسومها، أسمتها أنا: أخرجتها إلى الرعي
He let it graze: he pastured it, and he marked it. I let it graze: I took it out to pasture.
