يقال: بعير زنم وأزنم ومزنم وناقة زنمة وزنماء ومزنمة.

It is said: a camel is zanim, aznam, and muzannim, and a she-camel is zanama, zanmā', and muzannama.

والزنم: لغة في الزلم الذي يكون خلف الظلف،

And az-zanam is a dialectal variant of az-zalm which is behind the hoof,

الضائنة الزنمة أي ذات الزنمة، وهي الكريمة، لأن الضأن لا زنمة لها وإنما يكون ذلك في المعز؛

The sheep with the zanama, meaning possessing the zanama, and it is the noble one, because sheep do not have a zanama, but rather this occurs in goats;

وجاءت خلعة دهس صفايا، ... يصوع عنوقها أحوى زنيم

Because the meaning of 'group' and 'collection' is the same, so the attribute was applied to the collection, and Abu Ubaidah narrated it: from the young camels of al-muzannim, attributing it to him as if it were the addition of a thing to itself.

فلو أنها عصفورة لحسبتها ... مسومة تدعو عبيدا وأزنما

بنو أزنم بن عبيد بن ثعلبة بن يربوع، والإبل الأزنمية منسوبة إليهم؛

The sons of Aznam bin Ubaid bin Tha'labah bin Yarbu', and the Aznamiyyah camels are attributed to them;

يتبعن قيني أزنمي شرجب، ... لا ضرع السن ولم يثلب
