And in the Hadith: There is no halter nor nose-ring in Islam; he meant what the servants of the Children of Israel used to do of binding noses, which is to pierce the nose and put in it a halter like the halter of a she-camel to be led by it;

والزمزمة: تراطن العلوج عند الأكل وهم صموت، لا يستعملون اللسان ولا الشفة في كلامهم، لكنه صوت تديره في خياشيمها وحلوقها فيفهم بعضها عن بعض.
And the zamzama: the murmuring of the non-Arabs when eating, while they are silent, they do not use their tongue nor lips in their speech, but it is a sound they move in their nostrils and throats, and they understand each other.
والزمزمة من الصدر إذا لم يفصح.

زمزم العلج إذا تكلف الكلام عند الأكل وهو مطبق فمه؛
The non-Arab mumbled when he attempted to speak while eating with his mouth closed;
وانههم عن الزمزمة ؛ قال: هو كلام يقولونه عند أكلهم بصوت خفي.
And forbid them from the zamzama; he said: it is a speech they utter when eating with a hidden sound.
والذي بعثك بالحق ما تحرك به لساني ولا تزمزمت به شفتاي ؛ الزمزمة: صوت خفي لا يكاد يفهم.
And by Him who sent you with the truth, my tongue did not move with it, nor did my lips mumble with it; the zamzama: a hidden sound that is barely understood.
حول الصليان الزمزمة؛ والصليان من أفضل المرعى، يضرب مثلا للرجل يحوم حول الشيء ولا يظهر مرامه، وأصل الزمزمة صوت المجوسي وقد حجا، يقال: زمزم وزهزم، والمعنى في المثل أن ما تسمع من الأصوات والجلب لطلب ما يؤكل ويتمتع به.
Around the Saliyan is the zamzama; and the Saliyan is among the best pastures, used as a metaphor for a man who circles around something without revealing his intention, and the origin of zamzama is the sound of the Magian when he performs Hajj, it is said: zamzama and zahzama, and the meaning in the proverb is that what you hear of sounds and clamor is for the purpose of obtaining what is eaten and enjoyed.
والرعد يزمزم ثم يهدهد؛
And the thunder rumbles then it roars;
يهد بين السحر والغلاصم ... هدا كهد الرعد ذي الزمازم
It roars between the dawn and the throats... a roaring like the roaring of the thunder with the zamazims
والزمزمة من الرعد ما لم يعل ويفصح، وسحاب زمزام.
And the zamzama from the thunder is what is not loud and clear, and a zamzam cloud.
والزمزمة: الصوت البعيد تسمع له دويا.
And the zamzama: the distant sound that has a hum.
والعصفور يزم بصوت له ضعيف، والعظام من الزنابير يفعلن ذلك.
And the sparrow chirps with a weak sound, and the large wasps do that.
وفرس مزمزم في صوته إذا كان يطرب فيه.
And a horse is muzamzam in its sound if it is pleased by it.
وزمازم النار: أصوات لهبها؛
And the zamazims of fire: the sounds of its flames;
زمازم فوار من النار شاصب
Zamzims of a gushing fire, dry.
تسمع للجن به زيزيما
You hear the jinn making a buzzing sound with it.
وتزمزمت الإبل: هدرت.

والزمزمة، بالكسر: الجماعة من الناس؛

إذا تدانى زمزم لزمزم، ... من كل جيش عتد عرمرم
When a group approaches a group,... from every prepared and numerous army
وهربذها معلم وزمزمها
And its teacher led it and its zamzam.
يعل بنيها المحض من بكراتها، ... ولم يحتلب زميمها المتجرثم
