فكسروا الألف مع قال، وفتحوها مع زعم لأن زعم فعل واقع بها أي بالألف متعد إليها

قال الخليط: غدا تصدعنا، ... فمتى تقول الدار تجمعنا؟

ومعناه فمتى تظن ومتى تزعم

معناه أن الرجل إذا أراد المسير إلى بلد والظعن في حاجة ركب مطيته وسار حتى يقضي إربه، فشبه ما يقدمه المتكلم أمام كلامه ويتوصل به إلى غرضه من قوله زعموا كذا وكذا بالمطية التي يتوصل بها إلى الحاجة
Its meaning is that when a man intends to travel to a city and depart for a need, he rides his mount and travels until he fulfills his desire, so what the speaker presents before his speech and uses to achieve his purpose by saying 'they claim this and that' is likened to the mount by which one reaches a need
وإنما يقال زعموا في حديث لا سند له ولا ثبت فيه، وإنما يحكى عن الألسن على سبيل البلاغ، فذم من الحديث ما كان هذا سبيله
And 'za'amū' is only said in a narration that has no chain of transmission and no verification, but is merely reported from tongues as hearsay, so the narration of this kind is condemned

'Za'īm al-anfās' means entrusted with breaths, ascending them due to the dominance of envy and melancholy upon him
