And likewise is His saying, the Exalted: 'The month of Ramadan, for whoever fasts it,' it is only with a stolen vowel.

ولا يجوز أن تكون الراء الأولى ساكنة لأن الهاء قبلها ساكن، فيؤدي إلى الجمع بين الساكنين في الوصل من غير أن يكون قبلها حرف لين

And it is not permissible for the first 'ra' to be silent because the 'ha' before it is silent, leading to the joining of two silent letters in connection without a soft letter preceding them.

We only concluded that Ramatayn is a dual because the town was named as such out of necessity, because if they were two lands, it would be said 'al-Rāmatayn' with the definite article, like their saying 'al-Zaydān'.
