ووقع في رطمة ورطومة أي في أمر يتخبط فيه.
And he fell into a predicament and a quagmire, meaning into a matter in which he floundered.

And al-raṭūm among women: the wide-vagined; the rajaz poet said: O son of a wide-vagined woman with a gaping vulva.
وامرأة رطوم: واسعة الجهاز كثيرة الماء.
And a woman raṭūm: with a wide vulva and abundant fluid.
أبو عمرو: الرطوم الضيقة الحياء من النوق، وهي من النساء الرتقاء، ومن الدجاج البيضاء.
Abū ʿAmr: Al-raṭūm among female camels is one with a tight hymen, and among women she is rattā'ā' (closed hymen), and among chickens, white.
قال شمر: أرطم الرجل وطرسم وأسبأ «1». واصلخم واخرنبق كله إذا سكت.
Shamir said: The man became silent (arṭama), and ṭarsama, and asba'a. And aṣlakḥama and akhnarbaqa, all meaning when he fell silent.
والرطوم: الأحمق.
And al-raṭūm: the foolish.
