ويُروى المَوْشَمُ، بالواو، يَعْنِي التي نَبَتَ لها وَشْمٌ مِنَ الكَلإِ، وهو أوَّلُهُ، يُشَبِّهُ بِوَشْمِ النِّساءِ.

And it is narrated Al-mawsham, with 'waw', meaning she whose vegetation has grown from the grass, which is its beginning, likened to the tattoos of women.

وعامٌ أَرْشَمُ: ليس بجَيِّدٍ خَصِيبٍ.

And a year that is arsham: is not good or fertile.

ومَكانٌ أَرْشَمُ كَأَبْرَشَ إذا اخْتَلَفَتْ أَلْوانُهُ.

And a place that is arsham like abrash: if its colors differ.

بُرْذَوْنٌ أَرْشَمُ وأَرْمَشُ مِثْلُ الأَبْرَشِ في لَوْنِهِ؛

An arsham and armash mule is like al-abrash in its color;

وأَرْضٌ رَشْمَاءُ ورَمْشَاءُ مِثْلُ البَرْشَاءِ إذا اخْتَلَفَتْ أَلْوانُ عُشْبِهَا.

في لَوْنِهِ بَرَشٌ يَشُوبُ لَوْنَهُ لَوْنٌ آخَرُ يَدُلُّ على الرِّيبَةِ،

ويُروى مِنْ نَزالَةِ أَرْشَمَا؛ يُرِيدُ مِنْ ماءِ عَبْدٍ أَرْشَمَ.

And it is narrated from a lodging of arsham; meaning from the lineage of an arsham slave.

والأَرْشَمُ: الذي به وَشْمٌ وخُطُوطٌ.

And Al-arsham: is one who has tattoos and lines.

والأَرْشَمُ: الذي ليس بخالِصٍ لَوْنُهُ ولا حُرُّهُ.

And Al-arsham: is one whose color is not pure, nor is its heat.

والأَرْشَمُ: الشَّرِه.

And Al-arsham: is the greedy one.

وأَرْشَمَ البَرْقُ: مِثْلُ أَوْشَمَ.

And the lightning arsham: is like awsham.

وغَيْثٌ أَرْشَمُ: قليلٌ مَذْمُومٌ.

And arsham rain: is little and blameworthy.

رَشَمَ رَشْمًا «١». كَرَعَنَ إذا تَشَمَّمَ الطعامَ وحَرَصَ عليه.

الرَّشْمُ أنْ تَرْشُمَ يَدَ الكُرْدِيِّ والعِلْجِ كما تُوَشَّمُ يَدُ المَرْأَةِ بالنِّيلِ لِكَيْ تُعْرَفَ بها، وهي كالوَشْمِ.

Ar-rashm is to mark the hand of a Kurd or a foreigner as a woman's hand is tattooed with indigo so she is known by it, and it is like a tattoo.

والرَّشْمَةُ: سَوادٌ في وَجْهِ الضَّبُعِ مُشْتَقٌّ مِنْ ذلك، وضَبُعٌ رَشْمَاءُ، واللهُ أعْلَمُ.

And Ar-rashmah: is blackness on the face of a hyena, derived from that, and a rashmaa hyena, and God knows best.
