Gushing forth like a star or blocked, ... so they guessed when they intended to camp.

And 'al-dasamah': that by which the tear in a waterskin is secured.

And 'al-dasamah': a dustiness towards blackness, 'dasm' and it is 'adsm'.
فقال: دسموا نونته أي سودوها لئلا تصيبه العين
So he said: 'Dassimu' its dimple, meaning blacken it so the evil eye does not strike it.
وعلى رأسه عمامة دسماء أي سوداء
And on his head was a 'dasmā'' turban, meaning black.
اقتلوا هذا الدسم الأحمش أي الأسود الدنيء.
Kill this 'dasm' squinty-eyed one, meaning the black, base one.
والدسمة: الرديء من الرجال، وقيل: الدنيء من الرجال
And 'al-dasamah': the bad among men, and it was said: the base among men.

I detested every base, loud-mouthed woman.

He means a little remembrance, from 'tadseem', which is the blackness placed behind a child's ear so the evil eye does not strike him, and it is only a little.
ودسم المطر الأرض: بلها ولم يبالغ.
And 'dassama' the rain the earth: it moistened it without exaggerating.
ما أنت إلا دسمة أي لا خير فيه.
You are nothing but 'dasm-ah', meaning there is no good in him.
ويقال للرجل إذا غشي جاريته: قد دسمها.
And it is said of a man when he has intercourse with his slave girl: he has 'dassamahā'.
