He said: And every boy is a talm, whether an apprentice or not an apprentice, and the plural is al-talaam.
ابن الأعرابي: التلام الصاغة، والتلام الأكرة
Ibn Al-A'rabi said: Al-talaam are the goldsmiths, and al-talaam are the plowmen.
قال الليث إن بعضهم قال: التلاميذ الحماليج التي ينفخ فيها
Al-Layth said that some of them said: Al-talaamidhe are the bellows into which one blows.
والحماليج، قال شمر: هي منافخ الصاغة الحديدية الطوال، واحدها حملوج
