By God, you earn for the destitute and feed the well-disposed.

وإياك والحرب التي لا أديمها صحيح، وقد تعدى الصحاح على السقم إنما أراد لا أديم لها، وأراد على ذوات السقم.

والآدم: جمع أديم كيتيم وأيتام.

بشرته وأدمته ومشنته أي قشرته.

إنه لمؤدم مبشر، أي جمع لين الأدمة ونعومتها، وهي باطن الجلد، وشدة البشرة وخشونتها، وهي ظاهره.
He is indeed seasoned and well-informed, meaning he has combined the softness and smoothness of the inner skin, which is the inside of the skin, and the toughness and roughness of the outer skin, which is its surface.
وقد يقال رجل مبشر مؤدم وامرأة مبشرة مؤدمة فيقدمون المبشر على المؤدم، قال: والأول أعرف أعني تقديم المؤدم على المبشر.
And it may be said a man 'mubashshir mu'addim' and a woman 'mubashshirah mu'addamah', so they put 'mubashshir' before 'mu'addim'. He said: And the first is more known, I mean putting 'mu'addim' before 'mubashshir'.
وقيل: الأدمة ما ظهر من جلدة الرأس.
And it is said: 'Al-adamah' is what appears of the scalp.
وأدمة الأرض: باطنها، وأديمها، وجهها.
And the 'adamah' of the earth is its interior, and its 'adeem' is its surface.
وأديم الليل: ظلمته.
And the 'adeem' of the night is its darkness.
والصبح قد نشم في أديمه.
And the morning has begun to emerge in its expanse.
وأديم النهار: بياضه.
And the 'adeem' of the day is its whiteness.
ما رأيته في أديم نهار ولا سواد ليل.
I have not seen him in the expanse of day nor the darkness of night.
جئتك أديم الضحى.
I came to you at the height of the forenoon.
وأديم السماء: ما ظهر منها.
And the 'adeem' of the sky is what appears of it.
وفلان بريء الأديم مما يلطخ به.
And so-and-so is innocent of the skin, from what it is stained with.
والأدمة: السمرة.

والآدم من الناس: الأسمر.
And 'al-aadam' among people is the brown-complexioned.
الأدمة في الإبل لون مشرب سوادا أو بياضا.
The 'adamah' in camels is a color mixed with blackness or whiteness.
وقد أدم وأدم، فهو آدم، والجمع أدم، كسروه على فعل كما كسروا فعولا على فعل.
And he became brownish, and he is brownish, so he is 'aadam', and the plural is 'adum', they broke it down to 'fa'al' as they broke down 'fa'ūl' to 'fa'al'.
والأنثى أدماء وجمعها أدم.

وبه سمي آدم أبو البشر، على نبينا وعليه الصلاة والسلام.
And by this, Adam, the father of humanity, was named, upon our Prophet and peace be upon him.

And 'al-adamah' in people is a tinge of blackness, and in camels and gazelles it is whiteness.

الآدم من الإبل الأبيض، فإن خالطته حمرة فهو أصهب، فإن خالطت الحمرة صفاء فهو مدمى.
The 'aadam' among camels is white; if redness mixes with it, it is 'as-hab'; if redness mixes with clarity, it is 'mudamma'.
والأدم من الظباء بيض تعلوهن جدد فيهن غبرة.
And the 'aadam' among gazelles are white ones with streaks of dustiness upon them.
هي البيض البطون السمر الظهور يفصل بين لون ظهورها وبطونها جدتان مسكيتان.
They are those with white bellies and brown backs, with two strong streaks separating the color of their backs and bellies.
