The Arabs say, 'the first time a lizard showed its tail'
This is said of a man who does good, having not done it before.
And the Arabs raise 'awwal' and put 'dhanabahu' in the accusative, meaning the first time its tail was shown.
And some of them raise 'awwal' and raise 'dhanabahu', meaning the first thing its tail showed.
And some of them put 'awwal' in the accusative and 'dhanabahu' in the accusative, by making 'awwal' an adjective.
And some of them put 'awwal' in the accusative and raise 'dhanabahu', meaning 'at the first time the lizard showed its tail', i.e., its tail at the beginning of that.
Indeed, the first house appointed for mankind was that at Bakkah
'Awwal' in the language, in reality, is the beginning of a thing.
And it is possible that the beginning has an end, and it is possible that it does not have an end.
So, one is the first of the number, and the number is infinite.
And the bliss of Paradise has a beginning, and it is not cut off.
And your saying: 'This is the first wealth I earned' allows for there to be no earning after it.
But he meant: 'Rather, this is the beginning of my earning'.
And if someone said: 'The first slave I own is free', and he owned a slave, that slave would be freed.
Because the ownership has begun, and it is possible that God's saying 'Indeed, the first house appointed for mankind' refers to the House to which pilgrimage was not made to any other.
And he did not explain the origin of 'awwal' and its derivation from the language.
And it was said: The explanation of 'Al-Awwal' in the description of God Almighty is that He is the First, before Whom nothing exists, and the Last, after Whom nothing exists.
And this came in the narration from our master, the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, so it is not permissible to deviate in the interpretation of these two names from what is narrated from him, peace be upon him.
And the closest thing that comes to my mind regarding the derivation of 'awwal' is that it is 'af'al' from 'aala ya'oolu', and 'awla' is 'af'ala' from it.
And 'awwal' was originally 'a'awwal', so the second hamza was changed to a waw and assimilated into the other waw, and it was said 'awwal'.
And I think it is the saying of Sibawayh, and it is as if it is from their saying 'aala ya'oolu' when one escapes and precedes.
And similar to it is 'wa'ala ya'ilu' with its meaning.
And as for their saying 'Start with this first', they mean 'first of such and such', but it is omitted due to its frequency in their speech.
And it was constructed with a vowel because it is from the 'mutamakkin' (fully inflected noun) which was placed in a position like that of a non-inflected noun.
And they said: 'Enter the first, then the first', and it is one of the definite nouns placed in the position of a circumstantial adverb, which is irregular.
And raising it is permissible according to the meaning, i.e., 'so that the first and then the first may enter'.
He left him neither first nor last.
He made it a noun, indefinite, and diptote.
They are the first to enter and the last to leave, their singular being al-awwalah and al-akhirah.
This is not the origin of the chapter; rather, the origin of the chapter is 'al-awwal' and 'al-awla', like 'al-atwal' and 'al-tulya'.
As for 'awla bi-awla', I praise God.
This is the first among the first.
The water-carrier for the land is ours in our precedence, against the envier of enemies, the water-carrier of Quthm.
And he does not boast of having no precedence that is counted, when the ancient is counted, nor any mention.
Sunday in the first naming.
I hope to live, and that my day is on Sunday, or on Monday, or on Tuesday.
The dream is for the first interpreter.
If a righteous, truthful person who knows its principles and branches interprets it and strives in it, it will happen to him rather than to others who interpret it after him.
And al-wa'lah, like al-wa'lah (a type of mountain goat), is dung and dung heaps.
The droppings of sheep and camels all gather and clump together.
And it was said: It is only the urine and droppings of camels.
Indeed, the fuel of the people of so-and-so is the dung heap.
The livestock left their droppings in the place, on the pattern 'af'alati', they marked it with their urine and dung.
And the camels gathered (their dung).
He said to a man: 'Are you from Banu Fulān?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then you are from Wa'alah; when you stand, do not come near me'.
It was said: It is a base tribe named after al-wa'lah, which is the dung, due to its baseness.
And the place has accumulated droppings, so it is a place of refuge, and it is al-wa'il, and al-wa'lah, and its accumulation is 'aw'alah'.
The stagnant and yellowish water is a place of refuge.
Wa'il: the name of a man who became dominant over a known tribe.
And it may be made a name for the tribe, so it is not diptote.
It came in the pattern 'maf'al' because it is not derived from the verb; if it were derived from the verb, it would be 'maf'ala'.
And Banu Mu'alah are a clan.
And Banu Mu'alah bin Malik mortgaged him for blood money, and they hoped to kill him, but they did not.
I wish that when you mortgaged the family of Mu'alah, they had cut you with the sword's edge at the sabilah, and the eagle had circled you at the Qia'lah.
