And the people went out competing if they raced in shooting at targets.
وفي الحديث: أنه مر بقوم ينتضلون أي يرتمون بالسهام
And in the Hadith: He passed by a group of people competing, meaning they were shooting arrows.
يقال: انتضل القوم وتناضلوا أي رموا للسبق
It is said: The people competed and vied, meaning they shot for the lead.
وناضلت عنه نضالا: دافعت
And I defended him, a defense.
وتنضلت الشيء: أخرجته
And you extracted the thing: you took it out.
وانتضل سيفه: أخرجه
And his sword was drawn out: he took it out.
وانتضلت منهم نضلة: اخترت

والمناضلة: المفاخرة
And al-munadhalah means boasting.
ملك تدين له الملوك، ... ولا يجاثيه المناضل
