فَيُؤْتَى بِالرَّجُلِ كَانَ قَدْ حَمَلَهُ مُخَالِفًا لَهُ فَيُنْتَتَلُ خَصْمًا لَهُ — Then the man who had carried him will be brought, being contrary to him, and he will be presented as an opponent to him.
فَإِنَّا كُنَّا نَأْتِي الْمَجْلِسَ فَيَسْتَنْتِلُ وَيَشُدُّ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ — We would come to the gathering, and he would advance and tie his garment to his chest.

And it was narrated from Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, that he was given milk that he doubted was permissible for him to drink, so he advanced, vomiting, meaning he moved forward.
وَاسْتَنْتَلَ لِلْأَمْرِ: اسْتَعَدَّ لَهُ.
And he prepared for the matter, meaning he got ready for it.
أَبُو زَيْدٍ: اسْتَنْتَلْتُ لِلْأَمْرِ اسْتِنْتَالًا وَابْرِنْتِيتُ ابْرِنْتَاءً وَابْرِنْذَعْتُ ابْرِنْذَاعًا كُلُّ هَذَا إِذَا اسْتَعْدَدْتُ لَهُ.
Abu Zayd said: I prepared for the matter with preparation, and I prepared with preparation, and I prepared with preparation; all of this is when I got ready for it.
ابْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ: النَّتْلُ التَّقَدُّمُ فِي الْخَيْرِ وَالشَّرِّ.
Ibn Al-A'rabi said: The advancement is proceeding forward in good and evil.

And in the Hadith: He saw Al-Hasan playing with some children in the alley, so the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, advanced ahead of the people, meaning he moved forward.
وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ: يُمَثَّلُ الْقُرْآنُ رَجُلًا فَيُؤْتَى بِالرَّجُلِ كَانَ قَدْ حَمَلَهُ مُخَالِفًا لَهُ فَيُنْتَتَلُ خَصْمًا لَهُ أَيْ يَتَقَدَّمُ وَيَسْتَعِدُّ لِخِصَامِهِ، وَخَصْمًا مَنْصُوبٌ عَلَى الْحَالِ.
And in the Hadith: The Quran will be personified as a man, and the man who carried it will be brought, being contrary to it, and he will be presented as an opponent to him, meaning he advances and prepares for his dispute, and 'opponent' is in the accusative case as a circumstantial adverb.
وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ: أَنَّ ابْنَهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بَرَزَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مَعَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَتَرَكَهُ النَّاسُ لِكَرَامَةِ أَبِيهِ، فَنَتَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَمَعَهُ سَيْفُهُ أَيْ تَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ.
And in the Hadith of Abu Bakr: His son Abd al-Rahman went out on the day of Badr with the polytheists, and the people left him alone out of respect for his father, so Abu Bakr advanced towards him with his sword, meaning he moved forward towards him.
وَفِي حَدِيثِ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ: مَا سَبَقَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا نَأْتِي الْمَجْلِسَ فَيَسْتَنْتِلُ وَيَشُدُّ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ أَيْ يَتَقَدَّمُ.
And in the Hadith of Sa'd ibn Ibrahim: Ibn Shihab did not surpass us in knowledge in anything, except that we would come to the gathering, and he would advance and tie his garment to his chest, meaning he would move forward.

And Abu Amr said: The egg is the white egg, and it is the ostrich egg, and the Ntal are ostrich eggs buried in the desert with water, and Al-Natl with vowelization is similar;
قَالَ: زَعَمُوا أَنَّ الْعَرَبَ كَانُوا يَمْلَؤُونَ بِيضَ النَّعَامِ مَاءً فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَيَدْفِنُونَهَا فِي الْفَلَوَاتِ الْبَعِيدَةِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، فَإِذَا سَلَكُوهَا فِي الْقَيْظِ اسْتَثَارُوا الْبِيضَ وَشَرِبُوا مَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ، فَذَلِكَ النَّتْلُ.
He said: They claimed that the Arabs used to fill ostrich eggs with water in the winter and bury them in distant deserts far from water. When they traversed them in the heat of summer, they would unearth the eggs and drink the water within them. That is the Ntal.
وَالْأَصْلُ يُنْبِتُ فَرْعُهُ مُتَنَاتِلًا، ... وَالْكَفُّ لَيْسَ نَبَاتُهَا بِسَوَاءٍ
And the root grows its branches unevenly, ... and the palm tree's growth is not uniform.
وَنَاتِلٌ، بِفَتْحِ التَّاءِ: اسْمُ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ.

And Natilah and Nutaylah: she is the mother of Al-Abbas and Dirar, the sons of Abd al-Muttalib, one of the women of the Banu Al-Nimr ibn Qasit, and she is Nutaylah bint Khabbab ibn Kulayb ibn Malik ibn 'Amr.
فَيُقَالُ: هُوَ الْعَبْدُ الضَّخْمُ؛
