وإذا الذنوب أحيل في متثلم، شربت غوائل مائه وهزوم

والغائلة: الحقد الباطن، اسم كالوابلة.
And al-ghailah: the hidden malice, a noun like a downpour.
وفلان قليل الغائلة والمغالة أي الشر.

والغيلة، بالكسر: الخديعة والاغتيال.
And al-ghilah, with kasra: deception and assassination.
وقتل فلان غيلة أي خدعة، وهو أن يخدعه فيذهب به إلى موضع، فإذا صار إليه قتله وقد اغتيل.

الغيلة في كلام العرب إيصال الشر والقتل إليه من حيث لا يعلم ولا يشعر.
Al-ghilah in the speech of the Arabs is bringing evil and death to someone from where they do not know and are not aware.
قتله غيلة إذا قتله من حيث لا يعلم، وفتك به إذا قتله من حيث يراه وهو غار غافل غير مستعد.
He killed him by treachery if he killed him from where he did not know, and he ambushed him if he killed him from where he saw him while he was unaware, heedless, and unprepared.
وغال فلانا كذا وكذا إذا وصل إليه منه شر؛
And so-and-so was harmed by such-and-such if evil reached him;
وأنشد: وغال امرأ ما كان يخشى غوائله
And he recited: And brought harm to a man from what he did not fear of its harms
ويقال: قد اغتاله إذا فعل به ذلك.
And it is said: he assassinated him if he did that to him.
أن صبيا قتل بصنعاء غيلة فقتل به عمر سبعة أي في خفية واغتيال وهو أن يخدع ويقتل في موضع لا يراه فيه أحد.
That a boy was killed in Sana'a by treachery, so Umar killed seven in retaliation, meaning in secret and by assassination, which is to be deceived and killed in a place where no one sees him.
وأعوذ بك أن أغتال من تحتي أي أدهى من حيث لا أشعر، يريد به الخسف.
And I seek refuge in You from being ambushed from beneath me, meaning to be overcome from where I do not feel it, meaning being swallowed up.
والغيلة: الشقشقة؛
And al-ghilah: the hissing sound;
بغيلة تنسل نحو الأنيب
With a hissing sound moving towards the camel's hump
وإبل غيل: كثيرة، وكذلك البقر؛
And abundant camels: numerous, and likewise cattle;
وسيق إليه الباقر الغيل
And the abundant cattle were driven to him
والغيول المنفرد من كل شيء، وجمعه غيل،
And al-ghayul is the solitary one of everything, and its plural is ghayl,
ويروى العيل في البيت بعين غير معجمة، يريد الجماعة أي سيق إليه الباقر الكثير.
And it is narrated 'al-'ayl in the verse with an unpointed 'ayn, meaning the group, i.e., abundant cattle were driven to him.
وقال أبو منصور: والغيل السمان أيضا.
And Abu Mansur said: And al-ghayl also means fatness.
وغيلان: اسم رجل.
And Ghaylan: a man's name.
غيلان بن حريث: من شعرائهم، وكذا وقع في كتاب سيبويه، وقيل: غيلان حرب، قال: ولست منه على ثقة.
Ghaylan bin Harith: among their poets, and thus it appears in Sibawayh's book, and it was said: Ghaylan Harb, he said: And I am not confident of him.
واسم ذي الرمة: غيلان بن عقبة؛
And the name of Dhu al-Rummah: Ghaylan bin 'Uqbah;
ومن اسمه غيلان جماعة: منهم غيلان ذو الرمة، وغيلان بن حريث الراجز، وغيلان بن خرشة الضبي، وغيلان بن سلمة الثقفي.
And among those named Ghaylan are a group: among them is Ghaylan Dhu al-Rummah, Ghaylan bin Harith the rajaz poet, Ghaylan bin Khurashah al-Dabbi, and Ghaylan bin Salamah al-Thaqafi.
