وقيل: الغمل أن يلف الإهاب بعد ما يسلخ ثم يغم يوما وليلة حتى يسترخي شعره أو صوفه ثم يمرط، فإن ترك أكثر من يوم وليلة فسد
And it was said: al-ghaml is to wrap the hide after it is flayed, then cover it for a day and a night until its hair or wool relaxes, then it is plucked; if left for more than a day and a night, it spoils.
وأغمل فلان إهابه إذا تركه حتى يفسد
And so-and-so let his hide spoil if he left it until it became corrupted.
كحالئة عن كوعها، وهي تبتغي ... صلاح أديم ضيعته، وتغمل
Like a woman washing her elbow, seeking ... the repair of a hide she has lost, and it spoils.

The dates were covered to ripen.
وكذلك الرجل تلقى عليه الثياب ليعرق، فهو مغمول
And likewise a man, clothes are thrown on him to make him sweat, so he is maghmoul.
وبجلهتي عمان يوما لم يكن، ... لكم إذا عد العلى، مغمولا
And the two great ones of Oman one day were not, ... for you when nobility was counted, obscure.
وكل شيء كبس وغطي فقد غمل
And everything that is pressed and covered has been ghaml.
ونخل مغمول: متقارب لم ينفسخ
And maghmoul date palms: are close together, not spaced out.
والغمل: أن ينحت عنب الكرم فيخففوا من ورقه فيلقطوه
And al-ghaml: is to harvest grapes from the vine and thin their leaves and pick them.
وغمل العنب في الزبيل يغمله غملا: نضد بعضه على بعض

And it is said: the plant ghaml if it intertwined and covered itself, and rotted.
ولحم مغمول ومغمون إذا غطي شواء أو طبيخا
And meat is maghmoul and maghmoun if it is covered while roasting or stewing.
وإهاب مغمول إذا لف ففسد
And a maghmoul hide if it was wrapped and spoiled.
وغمل الثعلب غملا شبرقه يريد طال الشبرق وهو الضريع حتى غمل الثعلب وأصلحه فسمن وتناثر شعره، كما يغمل الأديم إذا ذر فيه الغلفة وألقى بعضه على بعض حتى يسترخي الشعر، والغلفة نبت يدبغ به الأديم
And the fox spoiled its carrion, meaning the carrion lengthened until the fox spoiled it and it became good, so it fattened and its hair fell off, just as leather is spoiled if the ghulfah plant is sprinkled on it and one part is thrown on another until the hair relaxes, and al-ghulfah is a plant used to tan leather.

And al-ghaml: is habit.
والغملول: بطن غامض من الأرض ذو شجر
And al-ghamloul: is a hidden depression in the earth with trees.
وقيل: هو الوادي الضيق الكثير الشجر والنبت الملتف
And it was said: it is a narrow valley with many trees and dense vegetation.
يا أيها الضاغب بالغملول، ... إنك غول ولدتك غول
O you who lurks in al-ghamloul, ... you are a ghoul and a ghoul gave birth to you.
والضاغب: الذي يختبئ في الخمر فيفزع الإنسان بمثل صوت السبع والوحش
And al-daghib: is one who hides in the wine and frightens a person with the sound of a lion or a wild beast.
وكل مجتمع نحو الشجر والظلمة والغمام إذا أظلم وتراكم حتى تسمى الزاوية غملولا
And every gathering towards trees, darkness, and clouds when it darkens and accumulates until a corner is called ghamloul.
والغملول كهيئة السكة في الأرض ضيق له سندان طول السند ذراعان يقود الغلوة ينبت شيئا كثيرا وهو أضيق من الفاتحة والمليع
And al-ghamloul is like a path in the land, narrow, with an anvil whose length is two cubits, leading to a racecourse, growing much vegetation, and it is narrower than al-fatiha and al-mali'.

And exits from mountain passes and ravines, ... and small hillocks surrounded by thickets.
