أي جعلناه غافلا عن يمينه بسبب سؤالنا
Meaning, We made him heedless of his oath due to our question.
يقال: تغفلته واستغفلته أي تحينت غفلته.
It is said: I took advantage of his heedlessness and I sought his heedlessness, meaning I waited for his moment of heedlessness.
يقال: هو في غفل من عيشه أي في سعة
It is said: He is in a state of ease in his life, meaning in abundance.
ونعم أغفال: لا لقحة فيها ولا نجيب.
And unbranded camels: there is no milk in them and no fine offspring.

غفلت صرت غافلا
I became heedless, I became heedless.
أغفلته وغفلت عنه: وصلت غفلي إليه أو تركته على ذكر.

أغفلت الشيء تركته غفلا وأنت له ذاكر.

وإن لنا الضاحية والمعامي وأغفال الأرض أي المجهولة التي ليس فيها أثر يعرف
And indeed, we have the forenoon grazing, the open plains, and the unmarked lands, meaning the unknown ones in which there is no recognizable trace.
بلاد أغفال: لا أعلام فيها يهتدى بها
Unmarked lands: there are no landmarks in them to guide by.
ودابة غفل: لا سمة عليها.
And an unbranded animal: there is no mark upon it.
إني رجل مغفل فأين أسم إبلي؟
I am a simple man, so where is the brand for my camels?
ولنا نعم همل أغفال لا سمات عليها
And we have stray, unbranded livestock without marks upon them.
وقدح غفل: لا خير فيه ولا نصيب له ولا غرم عليه
And an unassigned lot: there is no good in it, nor is there a share for it, nor is there liability upon it.
ورجل غفل: لا حسب له
And a man of no lineage: he has no ancestry.
وشاعر غفل: غير مسمى ولا معروف

عليك بالمغفلة والمنشلة
Attend to the philtrum and the place of the ring's loop.
عليك بالمغفلة ؛ هي العنفقة يريد الاحتياط في غسلها في الوضوء
Attend to the philtrum; it is the philtrum, meaning to be careful in washing it during ablution.
سميت مغفلة لأن كثيرا من الناس يغفل عنها.
