وكذلك ما يبقى في أسفل القارورة من الثفل،
And likewise what remains at the bottom of a bottle of sediment.
وقيل: هو ثفل ما صبغ به؛
And it was said: it is the sediment of what was used for dyeing.
الغريل أن يجيء السيل فيثبت على الأرض ثم ينضب، فإذا جف رأيت الطين رقيقا قد جف على وجه الأرض قد تشقق؛
Al-ghurayl is when the flood comes and settles on the ground then recedes; when it dries, you see thin mud that has dried on the surface of the earth, cracked.
هو الطين يحمله السيل فيبقى على وجه الأرض، رطبا كان أو يابسا،
It is the mud that the flood carries and remains on the surface of the earth, whether wet or dry,
وقيل: الغريل الطين الذي يبقى في الحوض.
And it was said: al-ghurayl is the mud that remains in the basin.
