وأنشد: طفلة تحسب المجاسد منها ... زعفرانا يداف، أو عرقيلا
And he recited: A young girl thinks the perfumes from her... are mixed saffron, or 'irqeel' (yellowness).
وقيل: الغرقيل بياض البيض، بالغين.
And it was said: 'Al-ghirqeel' is the whiteness of eggs, with a ghayn.
والعرقلى: مشية تبختر.
And 'al-'arqala' is a swaggering gait.
ورجل عرقال: لا يستقيم على رشده.
And a man 'arqal': does not remain upright in his sense.
والعراقيل: الدواهي.
And 'al-'araaqeel': calamities.
وعراقيل الأمور وعراقيبها: صعابها.
