والعرزال: موضع يتخذه الناطر فوق أطراف النخل والشجر يكون فيه فرارا وخوفا من الأسد.

والعرزال: سقيفة الناطور.

And al-ʿirzāl: the watchman's shed.

وعرزال الحية: جحرها؛ قال أبو النجم:

And the snake's ʿirzāl: its burrow; Abu al-Najm said:

وكرهت أحناشها العرازلا

And I disliked its small creatures in the burrows.

يقول: جاء الصيف فخرجت من جحرتها؛ وأنشد الإيادي:

He means: summer came, so it emerged from its burrow; and al-Iyadi recited:

تحكي له القرناء في عرزالها ... أم الرحى، تجري على ثفالها

The horned viper imitates it in its burrow... the mother of the millstone, running on its base.

وأراد بالقرناء الحية؛ وأورد ابن بري هذا للأعشى وتتمته:

And he meant by al-Qarnā' the snake; and Ibn al-Barrī cited this for al-Aʿshā and its continuation:

تحكك الجرباء في عقالها

وعرزال الرجل: حانوته.

And a man's ʿirzāl: his shop.

واحتمل عرزاله أي متاعه القليل؛ عن ابن الأعرابي.

And he carried his ʿirzāl, meaning his small belongings; from Ibn al-A'rabi.

والعرزال: غصن الشجرة.

وعرازيل الثمام: عيدانه؛ كلاهما عنه أيضا؛ وأنشد:

إن وردت يوما شديدا شبمه، ... لا ترد الماء بعظم تعجمه، ولا عرازيل ثمام تكدمه

If it drinks on a very cold day, ... it does not refuse water with a strong taste, nor does it chew the stalks of thamam grass.

هذاليل: متقطعون، والعرازيل عند العرب: مظال ذليلة فيها متيع خفيف
