Abu Ubaid said: 'Al-tafala' is one who is not perfumed and has a foul smell.
إذا ما الضجيع ابتزها من ثيابها، ... تميل عليه هونة غير متفال
When her bedmate strips her of her clothes, ... she leans towards him gently, not using perfume.
أتفله غيره؛ قال الراجز: يا ابن التي تصيد الوبارا، ... وتتفل العنبر والصوارا

It was said: O Messenger of Allah, who are the pilgrims? He said: The unkempt, the one not using perfume.
التفل: الذي ترك استعمال الطيب من التفل وهي الريح الكريهة.
