That the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was made from the 'athl of al-Ghaba.
ولكن بالأثلات لحم لا يظلل
But among the 'athlāt is flesh that is not shaded.
وإن هي قامت، فما أثلة بعليا تناوح ريحا أصيلا، بأحسن منها، وإن أدبرت فأرخ بجبة تقرو خميلا
And if she stands, there is no more beautiful than her, like a strong woman facing the evening breeze, and if she turns away, she is like a young bull in a garment covering the ground.
وقاظت أثال إلى الملا، وتربعت بالحزن عازبة تسن وتودع
And Athāl spent the summer near al-Mala, and spent the spring in al-Huzn, a solitary one, growing and departing.
فلما أن رأيت العيس صبت، بذي المأثول، مجمعة التوالي
When I saw the camels heading, at Dhu al-Ma'thool, gathering in succession.
وقد أرسلوا فراطهم، فتأثلو ا قليبا سفاها كالإماء القواعد
And they sent their advance party, and they dug a well foolishly like barren female slaves.
تؤثل كعب علي القضاء، فربي يغير أعمالها
Ka'b imposes the judgment upon me, but my Lord changes its deeds.
