ويقال للنبت أول ما يطلع: نجم ثم فرخ وقصب ثم أعصف ثم أسبل ثم سنبل ثم أحب وألب ثم أسفى ثم أفرك ثم أحصد.
And it is said of a plant when it first emerges: it sprouts, then it branches and becomes reed-like, then it flowers, then it bears fruit, then it forms ears, then it ripens and becomes milky, then it dries, then it is ready for threshing, then it is harvested.
ونهى عن بيع الحب حتى يفرك أي يشتد وينتهي.
And he forbade selling grain until it is ready for rubbing, meaning it becomes strong and mature.
يقال: أفرك الزرع إذا بلغ أن يفرك باليد.
It is said: the crop is ready for rubbing when it reaches the stage of being rubbed by hand.
وثوب مفروك بالزعفران وغيره: صبغ به صبغا شديدا.

إذا زالت الوابلة من العضد عن صدفة الكتف فاسترخى المنكب قيل: قد انفرك منكبه وانفركت وابلته.

بعير مفروك وهو الأفك الذي ينخرم منكبه.

ورجل مفرك: لا يحظى عند النساء، وفي التهذيب: تبغضه النساء.
And a man mufarrk: not favored by women, and in al-Tahdheeb: women hate him.
وامرأة مفركة: لا تحظى عند الرجال؛ أنشد ابن الأعرابي: مفركة أزرى بها عند زوجها، ... ولو لوطته هيبان مخالف.
And a woman mufarkah: not favored by men; Ibn al-A'rabi recited: A woman disliked by her husband, ... even if she were perfumed, she would be disliked.
إني تزوجت امرأة شابة أخاف أن تفركني.
I married a young woman, and I fear that she will dislike me.
إن الحب من الله والفرك [الفرك] من الشيطان.
Indeed, love is from Allah, and dislike [al-fark] is from Satan.
الفـرك والفرك أن تبغض المرأة زوجها.
Al-fark and al-fark is for a woman to dislike her husband.
لا يفرك مؤمن مؤمنة أي لا يبغضها كأنه حث على حسن العشرة والصحبة.
