وَقَدْ دَلَكَتْ بِرَاحٍ وَبَرَاحٍ أَيْ قَدْ مَالَتْ لِلزَّوَالِ
And it has declined 'birāḥin wa-barāḥin', meaning it has inclined towards setting.
وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْعَرَبَ يَذْهَبُونَ بِالدُّلُوكِ إِلَى غَيَابِ الشَّمْسِ
And I have seen the Arabs take 'ad-dulūk' to mean the setting of the sun.

وَلِلْوَرْدِ عِنْدَنَا دَلِيكٌ عَجِيبٌ كَأَنَّهُ الْبُسْرُ كِبَرًا وَحُمْرَةً حُلْوٌ لَذِيذٌ كَأَنَّهُ رُطْبٌ يَتَهَادَى
And the rose has with us a wondrous 'dalīk', like unripe dates in size and redness, sweet and delicious, like ripe dates being offered.
وَالدَّلِيكُ: نَبَاتٌ، وَاحِدَتُهُ دَلِيكَةٌ
And 'dalīk' is a plant, its singular is 'dalīka'.
وَدَلَكْتُ الْأَرْضَ: أَكَلْتُ
And I 'dalaktu' the land: I ate.
وَرَجُلٌ مَدْلُوكٌ: أُلِحَّ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ
And a man is 'madlūk': he is pressed hard in asking.
وَدَلَكَ الرَّجُلُ حَقَّهُ: مَاطَلَهُ
And the man 'dalaka' his right: he delayed paying it.
وَدَلَكَ الرَّجُلُ غَرِيمَهُ أَيْ مَاطَلَهُ
And the man 'dalaka' his debtor, meaning he delayed him.
أَيُدَالِكُ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ إِذَا كَانَ مُلْفِجًا
Does a man 'yudālik' his wife? He said: Yes, if he is delaying (her dower).
وَكُلُّ مُمَاطِلٍ، فَهُوَ مُدَالِكٌ
And every procrastinator is a 'mudālik'.
فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيَّ وَلَا تُبْصِنِي، ... وَدَالِكْنِي، فَإِنِّي ذُو دَلَالٍ
So do not rush me, nor scrutinize me, ... and deal with me patiently, for I am one who is indulged.
وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ: الْمُدَالِكَةُ الْإِلْحَاحُ فِي التَّقَاضِي، وَكَذَلِكَ الْمُعَارَكَةُ
And some said: 'al-mudālaka' is insistence in demanding payment, and likewise 'al-mu'āraka'.
