يقال: ومق يمق، بالكسر فيهما، مقة، فهو وامق وموموق.

وفرق بين الوماق والعشق، فقال: الوماق محبة لغير ريبة، والعشق محبة لريبة؛
And he differentiated between al-wumaq and al-'ishq, and said: Al-wumaq is love without suspicion, and al-'ishq is love with suspicion;
وماذا عسى الواشون أن يتحدثوا ... سوى أن يقولوا: إنني لك وامق؟

إن البلية من تمل حديثه، ... فانقع فؤادك من حديث الوامق
Indeed, the affliction is from one who tires of his talk, ... so quench your heart from the talk of the lover

يقال ومقت فلانا أمقه وأنا وامق وهو موموق، وأنا لك ذو مقة وبك ذو ثقة.
