It is permissible that he means by al-maylaq the swift and light one from al-walq, which is the easy and fast pace.

وولقه بالسوط: ضربه
And he struck him with the whip: he hit him.
وولق عينه: ضربها ففقأها
And he struck his eye: he hit it and blinded him.
طعام يتخذ من دقيق وسمن ولبن
