Al-washiqah is meat taken and boiled once and carried on journeys without being fully cooked so it doesn't disintegrate, and it was said: some claimed it is like dried meat that fire has not touched.
الوشيق القديد وكذلك المشنق:
Al-washiq is dried meat, and likewise al-mashnaq:
الوشيق لحم يقدد حتى يقب وتذهب ندوته، ولذلك سمي الكلب واشقا اسم له خاصة.
Al-washiq is meat dried until it shrinks and its moisture goes away, and for that reason a dog is named Washiq, a specific name for it.
أن المسلمين أخطؤوا بأبيه «2» فجعلوا يضربونه بسيوفهم، وهو يقول: أبي أبي فلم يفهموه حتى انتهى إليهم، وقد تواشقوه بأسيافهم أي قطعوه وشائق كما يقطع اللحم إذا قدد.
