I heard more than one Arab, when he was engaged in a task, urging himself on and saying: 'Imshaq, imshaq!' meaning 'Hurry, hurry!'

ومشق المرأة مشقا: نكحها.

And m-sh-q of a woman with m-sh-q: he had intercourse with her.

ومشقه مشقا: ضربه، وقيل: هو الضرب بالسوط خاصة، ومشقه عشرين سوطا؛

إذا مضت فيه السياط المشق

وفي الحديث: أنه سحر في مشط ومشاقة ؛ هي المشاطة، وهي أيضا ما ينقطع من الإبريسم والكتان عند تخليصه وتسريحه.

And in the Hadith: 'He was bewitched with a comb and m-shā-qah'; it is the hair dressing, and it is also what separates from silk and flax when separating and combing it.

And a garment m-sh-q and a-m-sh-q: m-m-sh-q-d; the latter is from al-Lihyani.

والمشق: أخلاق الثياب، واحدتها مشقة وفي الأصول مشاقة من كلإ أي قليل.

And in the narration of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: He saw Talhah wearing two dyed garments while he was in Ihram, so he said: 'What is this?' He replied: 'It is only m-sh-q'; it is ochre.

وفي حديث أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه: وعليه ثوبان ممشقان.

And in the narration of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him: 'And upon him were two dyed garments.'

وفي حديث جابر: كنا نلبس الممشق في الإحرام.

And in the narration of Jabir: 'We used to wear al-m-m-sh-q in Ihram.'

وامتشق في الشيء: دخل.

And i-m-t-sh-q-d into the matter: he entered into it.

وامتشق الشيء: اختطفه؛ عن ابن الأعرابي، وكذلك اختدفه واختواه واختاته وتخوته.
