هو جمع نجوة وهي السحابة،
It is a plural of najwah, which is a cloud,
والمعنى ما شربت غير ماء النجاء،
And the meaning is: I have not drunk except the water of the cloud,
لأن السحاب لا يشرب،

والظاهر من البيت عندي أنه يريد بالنجاء الأدفق السير الشديد،
And the apparent meaning of the verse, in my opinion, is that he means by al-Najā' al-Adfaq swift travel,

وهذا لا يصح أن يوصف بالغزر والدفق،

ورواه أبو عبيد: الكربق، بالقاف والكاف، وقال هو البصرة؛
And Abu 'Ubayd narrated it: al-Karbq, with a qāf and a kāf, and he said it is Basra;
وقال النضر بن شميل: هو الحانوت، فارسي معرب، يعني كلبه.
And al-Nuḍr bin Shumayl said: it is the shop, a Persian loanword, meaning its dog.
