Abu Ubaydah said: Al-zarq is a white marking below the fetlock, and it was said: Al-zarq is whiteness that does not encircle the entire bone but is a clear mark on part of it.

أبو عمرو: الزرقاء الخمر.

Abu Amr said: Al-Zarqaa' is wine.

ومعناه عطاش؛ قال ابن سيده: وعندي أن هذا ليس على القصد الأول، إنما معناه ازرقت أعينهم من شدة العطش،

And it was said: blind, they emerge from their graves seeing as they were created the first time and become blind in the gathering, and they are called zarqā because the blackness turns blue/green when their sight is gone,

وقال غيره: الزرق المياه الصافية؛

And from this is the saying of Zuhayr: When they reached the water, its expanse clear, ... they set down the staffs of the settled, encamped.

والماء يكون أزرق ويكون أسجر ويكون أخضر ويكون أبيض.

And water can be blue, and it can be fiery, and it can be green, and it can be white.

والزرق: أكثبة بالدهناء؛ قال ذو الرمة: وقربن بالزرق الحمائل، بعد ما ... تقوب عن غربان أوراكها الخطر

Meaning the chest strap. And Al-Munzarq: the one lying on his back.

وانزرق الرجل انزراقا إذا استلقى على ظهره.

And the man lay on his back if he reclined on his back.

قال أبو منصور: وسمعت بعض العرب يقول للبعير الذي يؤخر حمله إلى مؤخره مزراق، ورأيت جملا عندهم يسمى مزراقا لتأخيره أداته وما حمل عليه.

Abu Mansur said: And I heard some Arabs call a camel that delays its load to its rear a mizraq, and I saw a camel among them named Mizraq for its delaying its equipment and what it carried.

ورجل زراق: خداع.

And the saying of Jarir, narrated by Muhammad ibn Habib: You vomited, son of the blacksmith, from eating a carrion ... and eating a poisonous plant, when your stomach became loose

ويقال: تزورق الرجل إذا رمى ما في بطنه.

And it is said: The man vomited if he expelled what was in his stomach.

والزورق مأخوذ منه، وقد سمت زرقانا.

And Al-Zawraq is derived from this, and she named [her son] Zurqan.

وزريق وزرقان: اسمان.

And Zurayq and Zurqan: two names.

والزرقاء: فرس نافع بن عبد العزى.

And Al-Zarqaa': the mare of Nafi' ibn Abd al-Uzza.

والزرنوقان، بفتح الزاي: منارتان تبنيان على رأس البئر؛ قال ابن جني: هو فعنول وهو غريب، فأما الزرنوق، بضم الزاي، فرباعي، وسيذكر.
