معنى دافق مدفوق

The meaning of 'dafiq' is 'madfuq' (poured).

وهو مذهب سيبويه، وكذلك سر كاتم ذو كتمان.

And this is the opinion of Sibawayh, just as 'sirrun kaatim' means 'dhu kitmaan' (possessing secrecy).

والاندفاق: الانصباب.

And his saying, which Tha'lab recited: 'On a swift gait, a strong she-camel', he interpreted 'al-dafqa' here as a swift walk, but it is not so, because 'al-dafqa' here is a description of the she-camel, as indicated by his saying 'aysajur', which means strong.

وقال أبو مالك: هلال أدفق خير من هلال حاقن؛ قال: الأدفق الأعوج، والحاقن الذي يرتفع طرفاه ويستلقي ظهره.

And Abu Malik said: an 'adfaq' crescent moon is better than a 'haqin' crescent moon; he said: 'al-adfaq' is crooked, and 'al-haqin' is one whose tips are raised and its back is lying flat.

وفي النوادر: هلال أدفق أي مستو أبيض ليس يمتنكب على أحد طرفيه، قال أبو زيد: العرب تستحب أن يهل الهلال أدفق، ويكرهون أن يكون مستلقيا قد ارتفع طرفاه.

And in Al-Nawadir: a crescent moon is 'adfaq', meaning straight, white, not leaning on either of its tips. Abu Zayd said: The Arabs prefer the crescent moon to appear 'adfaq', and they dislike it to be lying flat with its tips raised.

ابن بري: ودوفق قبيلة؛ قال الشاعر:

Ibn al-Bari: And 'Dufaq' is a tribe; the poet said:

لو كنت من دوفق أو بنيها، ... قبيلة قد عطبت أيديها، معودين الحفر حافريها
