ليس للنساء أن يحققن الطريق ؛ هو أن يركبن حقها وهو وسطها من قولك سقط على حاق القفا وحقه.

'Haqq al-kuhool': a spider's web; and from it is the hadith of Amr ibn al-As when he said to Mu'awiyah in conversations between them: 'I saw you in Iraq, and your affair was like a spider's web and like a weak person's snare in its weakness, and I kept tending to it until it became firm', in a hadith of some length, he said: meaning weak.

والحقحقة: شدة السير. حقحق القوم إذا اشتدوا في السير.

And 'al-ḥaqḥaqah': intensity of travel. The people 'ḥaqḥaqū' if they intensified their travel.

وخير السير الحقحقة؛ هو إشارة إلى الرفق في العبادة، يعني عليك بالقصد في العبادة ولا تحمل على نفسك فتسأم؛ وخير العمل ما ديم وإن قل، وإذا حملت على نفسك من العبادة ما لا تطيقه انقطعت به عن الدوام على العبادة وبقيت حسيرا، فتكلف من العبادة ما تطيقه ولا يحسرك.

And the worst kind of travel is 'al-ḥaqḥaqah'; it is an indication of gentleness in worship, meaning you should be moderate in worship and not burden yourself to the point of weariness; and the best deed is that which is continuous, even if it is little, and if you burden yourself with worship that you cannot bear, you will be cut off from continuous worship and remain exhausted, so undertake worship that you can bear and that does not exhaust you.

وأما قول الليث إن الحقحقة سير أول الليل فهو باطل ما قاله أحد، ولكن يقال فحموا عن الليل أي لا تسيروا فيه.

As for Al-Layth's saying that 'al-ḥaqḥaqah' is traveling in the first part of the night, it is false, no one has said that, but rather it is said 'faḥḥamū 'an al-layl', meaning do not travel at night.

وسير حقحاق شديد، وقد حقحق وهقهق على البدل، وقهقه على القلب بعد البدل.

And a strenuous, intense journey, and it has been said 'ḥaqḥaqa' and 'haqhaqa' by substitution, and 'qahqaha' by inversion after substitution.

فقد أنكرته أم حقة حادثا، ... وأنكرها ما شئت، والود خادع

Um Huqqah indeed denied it as something new, ... and she denied it as much as you wish, and affection is deceptive.
