We repelled the army of Sapur, and you... in a chasm, its perils are many. Our steeds remain stretched out... like groups (barāziqā), becoming or changing, meaning groups of horses.
وقال زياد: ما هذه البرازيق التي تتردد؟
And Ziyad said: What are these groups (al-barāzīq) that keep coming and going?
وتبرزق القوم: اجتمعوا بلا خيل ولا ركاب؛ عن الهجري.
And the people tabaṛzaqū: they gathered without horses or riders; according to Al-Hajari.
والبرزق: نبات؛ قال أبو منصور: هذا منكر وأراه بروق فغير.
And al-barzaq: a plant; Abu Mansur said: This is rejected, and I think it is barūq, so it was changed.
