They said: ta'affaqat bi-na means she visited us and came to us.
صفاق أفاق ؛ قوله أفاق أي يضرب في آفاق الأرض أي نواحيها مكتسبا
Sifaq afaq; his saying 'afaq means he strikes out in the regions of the earth, meaning its sides, seeking to earn a living.
وأنت لما ولدت أشرقت الأرض، وضاءت بنورك الأفق
And when you were born, the earth shone, and the horizon lit up with your light.
وقعدت على أفق الطريق أي على وجهه
And you sat on the horizon of the road, meaning on its face.

Nor King Nu'man, on the day I met him in his joy, giving prizes and excelling.

And it is said: afqahu ya'fquhu if he preceded him in merit.

And it is said: afqa fulan if he went into the land.

And afqaqa in giving, meaning he excelled and gave some more than others.
بعير آفق وفرس آفق إذا كان رائعا كريما والبعير عتيقا كريما
An 'afiq camel and an 'afiq horse if they are magnificent and noble, and the camel is ancient and noble.
وفرس آفق قوبل من آفق وآفقة إذا كان كريم الطرفين
And an 'afiq horse, met from 'afiq and 'afiqah, if it is noble on both sides.
وفرس أفق، بالضم: رائع، وكذلك الأنثى
And a horse 'ufuq, with damma: magnificent, and likewise the female.

And al-afiq: the hide that has not been tanned; from Tha'lab, and it is said: it is that whose tanning is not complete.
أنه دخل على النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم، وعنده أفيق ؛ قال: هو الجلد الذي لم يتم دباغه
That he entered upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, and beside him was an 'afiq; he said: it is the hide whose tanning is not complete.
فاشتريت أفيقة أي سقاء من أدم، وأنثه على تأويل القربة والشنة
So I bought 'afiqah, meaning a waterskin of tanned leather, and he feminized it based on the interpretation of a waterskin and a skin bag.
وقيل: الأفيق الأديم حين يخرج من الدباغ مفروغا منه وفيه رائحته
And it is said: al-afiq is the tanned leather when it comes out of the tannery, finished and with its smell.
والمنيئة: الجلد أول ما يدبغ ثم هو أفيق، وقد منأته وأفقته
And al-mani'ah: the hide when it is first tanned, then it is 'afiq, and I have tanned it and processed it.
والجمع أفق مثل أديم وأدم
And the plural is 'afq, like 'adeem and 'adm.
وأرى ثعلبا قد حكى في الأفيق الأفق على مثال النبق وفسره بالجلد الذي لم يدبغ
And I think Tha'lab narrated for al-afiq the form al-afq, like nabq, and interpreted it as the untanned hide.
فأفيق على هذا له اسم جمع وليس له جمع
So 'afiq in this case is a collective noun and does not have a plural.
وأفق الأديم يأفقه أفقا: دبغه إلى أن صار أفيقا
And afqa al-adeem ya'fiquhu afqan: he tanned it until it became 'afiq.
يقال للأديم إذا دبغ قبل أن يخرز أفيق
It is said of tanned leather, if it is tanned before being stitched, that it is 'afiq.
والجمع آفقة مثل أديم وآدمة ورغيف وأرغفة
And the plural is 'afiqah, like 'adeem and 'adimah, and ragheef and arghifah.
والأفيق من الإنسان ومن كل بهيمة جلده
And al-afiq, from humans and from every beast, is its skin.
