And likewise, nothing presents itself to him but he takes it, and nothing rises high with prominence.
كلما وهف لهم شيء من الدنيا أخذوه ؛ معناه كلما بدا لهم وعرض.
Whenever something of this world appeared to them, they took it; its meaning is whenever it became apparent and presented itself to them.
يقال وهف الشيء يهف وهفا إذا طار؛ قال الراجز: سائلة الأصداغ يهفو طاقها أي يطير كساؤها.
It is said that a thing flies, it flies with a flying motion, if it flies; the poet said: its sides are flowing, its garment flies.
ومننه قيل للزلة هفوة.
And from this, a slip is called a 'hafwa'.
قلده رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، وهف الأمانة.

وفي رواية: وهف الدين ، أي قلده القيام بشرف الدين بعده، كأنما عنت أمر النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم، إياه أن يصلي بالناس في مرضه، وقيل: وهف الأمانة ثقلها.
And in another narration: the burden of religion, meaning he entrusted him with the responsibility of the honor of religion after him, as if the Prophet, peace be upon him, intended him to lead the people in prayer during his illness, and it was said: the burden of the trust is its weight.
وهو الميل من حق إلى ضعف.
And it is the inclination from right to weakness.
