The poet said: For the blue hawk, there is a neighing in it, ... a sound like the sound of the drum and the cymbals.
وفي حديث أم زرع: إذا سمعن صوت المعازف أيقن أنهن هوالك.
And in the narration of Umm Zur'ah: When they heard the sound of musical instruments, they knew they were doomed.
والعازف: اللاعب بها والمغني، وقد عزف عزفا.

Al-Farazdaq said, addressing himself: You were indifferent to 'Ashash, and you were barely indifferent, ... and you denied from Hadra' what you used to know.
وعزفت القوس عزفا وعزيفا: صوتت؛
And the bow made a sound 'azfan and 'azeefan: it made a sound;
والعزيف: صوت الرمال إذا هبت بها الرياح.
And al-'azeef: the sound of the sands when the winds blow through them.
وأعزف: سمع عزيف الرياح والرمال.

وقيل: هو صوت الرياح في الجو فتوهمه أهل البادية صوت الجن.
And it was said: It is the sound of the winds in the sky, so the desert dwellers mistook it for the sound of the jinn.

And my soul turned away from a thing, turning away and turning away 'azfan and 'uzuufan: I left it after admiring it, became ascetic towards it, and turned away from it.
وفي حديث حارثة: عزفت نفسي عن الدنيا أي عافتها وكرهتها،
