والخضف: البطيخ

يكون قعسريا رطبا ما دام صغيرا ثم خضفا أكبر من ذلك ثم قحا ثم يكون بطيخا

It is a qasri (unripe melon) when it is moist as long as it is small, then a khadf larger than that, then a qah (ripe melon), then it becomes a watermelon.

نازعتهم أم ليلى، وهي مخضفة، ... لها حميا بها يستأصل العرب

والمخضفة: الخاثرة

And al-mukhaḍḍafah: the curdled.

أظنها سميت مخضفة لأنها تزيل العقل فيضرط شاربها وهو لا يعقل

I think it was named mukhaḍḍafah because it removes reason, so its drinker passes wind while not being rational.
