Al-hasif: the one with a firm intellect, and ihsaf al-amr: making it firm. By 'al-uqdah' here he means opinion and planning, and everything firm without flaw is hasif.

And muhsaf: dense and strong.

وثوب حصيف إذا كان محكم النسج صفيقه، وأحصف الناسج نسجه.

And a garment is hasif if it is tightly woven and thick, and the weaver has muhsaf his weaving.

ورأي مستحصف، وقد استحصف رأيه إذا استحكم، وكذلك المستحصد.

And a mustahsaf opinion, and his opinion has become mustahsaf when it is firm, and likewise mustahsad.

واستحصف الشيء: استحكم.

And something has become mustahsaf: it has become firm.

ويقال: استحصف القوم واستحصدوا إذا اجتمعوا؛

And it is said: the people have become mustahsaf and mustahsad if they have gathered;

قال الأزهري: أراد بالمحصوفة كتيبة مجموعة وجعلها محصوفة من حصفت، فهي محصوفة.

Al-Azhari said: he meant by al-mahshufah a gathered military formation, and he made it mahshufah from hasafa, so it is mahshufah.

قال الأزهري: وفي النوادر حصبته عن كذا وأحصبته وحصفته وأحصفته وحصيته وأحصيته إذا أقصيته.

Al-Azhari said: and in Al-Nawadir, hasabtuhu 'an kadha, ahsabtuhu, hasaftuhu, ahsafatuhu, hasaytuhu, and ahsaytuhu mean if you removed it.

والمستحصفة: المرأة الضيقة اليابسة، قيل: وهي التي تيبس عند الغشيان وذلك مما يستحب.

And al-mustahsafah: the narrow and dry woman, it is said: she is the one who becomes dry upon intercourse, and that is desirable.

وفرج مستحصف أي ضيق.

And a mustahsaf vagina, meaning narrow.

واستحصف علينا الزمان: اشتد.

And time has become mustahsaf upon us: it has become severe.

واستحصف القوم: اجتمعوا.

And the people have become mustahsaf: they have gathered.

والإحصاف: أن يعدو الرجل عدوا فيه تقارب.

And al-ihsaf: for a man to run with close strides.

وأحصف الفرس والرجل إذا عدا عدوا شديدا،

And a horse and a man have ahsaf if they run intensely,

And it is said: al-ihsaf is the utmost of running;

والحصف: بثر صغار يقيح ولا يعظم وربما خرج في مراق البطن أيام الحر، وقد حصف جلده، بالكسر، يحصف حصفا.

And al-hasaf: small pustules that fester and do not grow large, and may appear on the flanks during hot days, and his skin has hasafa (with kasr), yahsifu hasafan.

وقال أبو عبيد: حصف يحصف حصفا وبثر وجهه يبثر بثرا.

And Abu Ubaid said: hasafa, yahsifu, hasafan, and his face has pustules, yabthuru batharan.

وقال الجوهري: الحصف الجرب اليابس، والحصيفة الحية؛ طائية.

And Al-Jauhari said: al-hasaf is the dry scab, and al-hasifah is the viper; a Tayyi dialect.
