Do you not see it corresponds to the ya' of mafa'ilun, just as the alif in his saying: yanbā' from the nape of a spirited, robust she-camel, is merely an elongation of the fatḥah in pursuit of maintaining the meter,
ألا ترى أنه لو قال ينبع من ذفرى لصح الوزن إلا أن فيه زحافا، وهو الخزل، كما أنه لو قال تنوف لكان الجزء مقبوضا فالإشباع إذا في الموضعين إنما هو مخافة الزحاف الذي هو جائز.
Do you not see that if he had said yanbu' from the nape, the meter would be correct, except that it would contain a metrical defect, which is al-khazal, just as if he had said tanuf, the part would be contracted, so the elongation in both places is therefore to avoid the metrical defect, which is permissible.
