'Wala'a' 'yala'' means to be light-headed.
والشاة يلع أي يستخف عدوا، وذكر الشاة
And the sheep 'yal'' means it underestimates an enemy, and mentions the sheep.
رجل ولعة: يولع بما لا يعنيه، وهلعة: يجزع سريعا.
A 'wal'ah' man: he meddles in what does not concern him, and 'hal'ah': he panics quickly.
ولع يلع ولعا وولعانا إذا كذب.
'Wala'a' 'yala'' with 'walan' and 'walayaan' if he lied.

لكنها خلة، قد سيط من دمها فجع وولع، وإخلاف وتبديل
But it is a friendship, from its blood has been mixed grief, and lying, and breaking promises, and changing.
إلا بأن تكذبا علي، ولا أملك أن تكذبا، وأن تلعا
Except that you two lie to me, and I cannot prevent you two from lying, and from being light-headed.
وهن من الإخلاف والولعان أي من أهل الخلف والكذب، وجعلهن من الإخلاف لملازمتهن له
And they are from breaking promises and lying, meaning from the people of falsehood and deceit, and he made them from breaking promises due to their constant adherence to it.
وهن من الإخلاف قبلك والمطل
And they are from breaking promises before you and delaying.
ويقال: ولع والع كما يقال عجب عاجب.
And it is said: 'Wala'' 'Walac' just as it is said 'Ajab 'Aajib'.
والوالع: الكذاب، والجمع ولعة مثل فاسق وفسقة
And 'al-waali'' is the liar, and the plural is 'walacah' like 'faasiq' and 'fasqah'.
متى يقل تنفع الأقوام قولته، إذا اضمحل حديث الكذب الولعه
When will his saying benefit people, when the talk of the liar 'al-walacah' fades away?
ويقال: قد ولع فلان بحقي ولعا أي ذهب به.
And it is said: So-and-so took my right with 'walan', meaning he took it away.
والتوليع: التلميع من البرص وغيره.
And 'at-tawlii'' is the mottling from vitiligo and other things.
وفرس مولع: تلميعه مستطيل وهو الذي في بياض بلقه استطالة وتفرق
And a 'mula'' horse: its mottling is elongated, and it is that which in the white of its blaze is elongated and scattered.
مولع بسواد في أسافله، منه اكتسى، وبلون مثله اكتحلا
Mottled with blackness at its lower parts, from it it was clothed, and with a color like it, it was lined.
والمولع: كالملمع إلا أن التوليع استطالة البلق
And 'al-mula'' is like 'al-mulamma'', except that 'at-tawlii'' is the elongation of the blaze.
فيها خطوط من سواد وبلق، كأنه في الجلد توليع البهق

As if this, woe to you, is the mottling of vitiligo.
فإذا كان في الدابة ضروب من الألوان من غير بلق، فذلك التوليع.

برذون مولع، وكذلك الشاة والبقرة الوحشية والظبية
A 'mula'' mule, and likewise a sheep, a wild cow, and a gazelle.
مولعة بالطرتين دنا لها جنى أيكة، تضفو عليها قصارها
Mottled on its two sides, it approached it, the fruit of a thicket, its short ones covering it.
عبل الشوى، بالطرتين مولع
Thick-legged prey, mottled on its two sides.
ورجل مولع: أبرص
And a 'mula'' man: leprous.
كأنها في الجلد توليع البهق
As if it is in the skin the mottling of vitiligo.
ولع الله جسده أي برصه.
May God afflict his body, meaning make him leprous.
والوليع: الطلع، وقيل: الطلع ما دام في قيقائه كأنه نظم اللؤلؤ في شدة بياضه
And 'al-wali'' is the spathe; and it is said: the spathe as long as it is in its sheath, like pearls strung together in its intense whiteness.
ووليع: الطلع قبل أن يتفتح
And 'wali'' is the spathe before it opens.
وتبسم عن نير كالوليع، تشقق عنه الرقاة الجفوفا
And he smiled revealing teeth like 'al-wali'', from which the climbers opened the dry sheaths.
الوليع ما دام في الطلعة أبيض.
'Al-wali'' is as long as it remains white in the spathe.
الوليع ما في جوف الطلعة، واحدته وليعة.
'Al-wali'' is what is inside the spathe, its singular is 'wali'ah'.
وليعة: اسم رجل وهو من ذلك.
'Wali'ah': the name of a man, and it is from that.
وأخوالي الملوك، بنو وليعه
And my maternal uncles are kings, the sons of Wulai'ah.
هم منعوا ذماري، يوم جاءت كتائب مسرف، وبنو اللكيعه
They protected my honor, on the day that the armies of Musrif came, and Banu Al-Lakii'ah.
وأخذ ثوبي وما أدري ما والعته وما ولع به أي ذهب به.
And he took my garment, and I do not know what 'wa'latuhu' is and what 'wuli'a bihi' is, meaning it was taken away.
وفقدنا غ لاما لنا ما أدري ما ولعه أي ما حبسه، وما أدري ما والعته بمعناه أيضا.
And we lost a young man of ours, I do not know what his 'walacah' is, meaning what detained him, and I do not know what 'wa'latuhu' is with the same meaning.
يقال ولع فلانا والع، وولعته والعة، واتلعته والعة أي خفي علي أمره فلا أدري أحي أم ميت، وإن لا تدري بمن يولع هرمك؛ حكاه يعقوب.
It is said: 'Wala'' so-and-so 'Walac', and 'Wala'atuhu' a 'Waali'ah', and 'Itla'atuhu' a 'Waali'ah', meaning his matter was hidden from me, so I do not know if he is alive or dead. And you do not know who your old age is attached to; Ya'qub narrated it.
تمنى، ولم أقذف لديه مجربا لقائل سوء يستجير الولائعا
He wished, and I did not accuse him of being tested by a slanderer seeking refuge with the 'Walaa'i''.
