So the herd moved away, not quenching their thirst, ... and we fill them, but there is no satisfaction nor thirst.
والقصع: قتل الصؤاب والقملة بين الظفرين.
And Al-Qas'a: killing nits and lice between the fingernails.
ونهى أن تقصع القملة بالنواة أي تقتل.
And he forbade killing a louse with a date pit, meaning to kill it.
والقصع: الدلك بالظفر، وإنما خص النواة لأنهم قد كانوا يأكلونها عند الضرورة.
And Al-Qas'a: rubbing with the fingernail, and he specifically mentioned the date pit because they used to eat it when necessary.
وقصع الغلام قصعا: ضربه ببسط كفه على رأسه، وقصع هامته كذلك، قالوا: والذي يفعل به ذلك لا يشب ولا يزداد.
And the boy was struck, Qas'an: he was hit with the palm of his hand on his head, and his crown was struck similarly. They said: And he who is subjected to that does not mature nor grow.
وغلام مقصوع وقصيع: كادي الشباب إذا كان قميئا لا يشب ولا يزداد، وقد قصع وقصع قصاعة، وجارية قصيعة، بالهاء؛ عن كراع كذلك، وقصع الله شبابه: أكداه.
And a boy who is Maqsu' and Qasi': stunted in youth if he is short and does not mature or grow. And he has undergone Qas'a and Qas'a Qasa'ah, and a girl who is Qasi'ah, with taa marbuta; from Kara' likewise. And Allah stunted his youth: He made it difficult for him.
ويقال للصبي إذا كان بطيء الشباب: قصيع، يريدون أنه مردد الخلق بعضه إلى بعض فليس يطول.
And it is said of a boy if he is slow to mature: Qasi', meaning his creation is repeated, some of it to some, so he does not grow tall.
وقصع الجرة: شدة المضغ وضم الأسنان بعضها على بعض.
And Qas'a Al-Jarr: intense chewing and pressing of teeth against each other.
وقصع البعير بجرته والناقة بجرتها يقصع قصعا: مضغها، وقيل: هو بعد الدسع وقبل المضغ، والدسع: أن تنزع الجرة من كرشها ثم القصع بعد ذلك والمضغ والإفاضة، وقيل: هو أن يردها إلى جوفه، وقيل: هو أن يخرجها ويملأ بها فاه.
And the camel chewed its cud and the she-camel chewed its cud, Yaqsa'u Qas'an: chewing it. And it was said: It is after the Das' and before chewing. And Al-Das': to pull the cud from its stomach, then Al-Qas'a after that, and chewing, and regurgitation. And it was said: It is to return it to its belly. And it was said: It is to bring it out and fill its mouth with it.
أنه خطبهم على راحلته وإنها لتقصع بجرتها ؛ قال أبو عبيد: قصع الجرة شدة المضغ وضم بعض الأسنان على بعض.
That he addressed them from his mount, and it was chewing its cud; Abu Ubaid said: Qas'a Al-Jarr is intense chewing and pressing some teeth together.
أبو سعيد الضرير: قصع الناقة الجرة استقامة خروجها من الجوف إلى الشدق غير متقطعة ولا نزرة، ومتابعة بعضها بعضا، وإنما تفعل الناقة ذلك إذا كانت مطمئنة ساكنة لا تسير، فإذا خافت شيئا قطعت الجرة ولم تخرجها، قال: وأصل هذا من تقصيع اليربوع، وهو إخراجه تراب حجره وقاصعائه، فجعل هذه الجرة إذا دسعت بها الناقة بمنزلة التراب الذي يخرجه اليربوع من قاصعائه، قال أبو عبيد: القصع ضمك الشيء على الشيء حتى تقتله أو تهشمه، قال: ومنه قصع القملة.
Abu Sa'id Al-Darir: Qas'a of the she-camel's cud is the straightness of its exit from the stomach to the cheek, not interrupted or sparse, and following one another. The she-camel does this only when it is calm and stationary, not moving. If it fears something, it cuts the cud and does not bring it out. He said: And the origin of this is from the Qas' of the gerbil, which is its expelling the dirt from its hole and its burrow entrance. So this cud, when the she-camel brings it up, is made like the dirt that the gerbil expels from its burrow entrance. Abu Ubaid said: Al-Qas'a is pressing something onto something until you kill it or crush it. He said: And from it is Qas' Al-Qamlah.
ابن الأنباري: دسع البعير «1» بجرته وقصع بجرته وكظم بجرته إذا لم يجتر.
Ibn Al-Anbari: The camel Das'a its cud, and Qasa'a its cud, and Kazama its cud if it did not ruminate.
وفي حديث عائشة، رضي الله عنها: ما كان لإحدانا إلا ثوب واحد تحيض فيه فإذا أصابه شيء من دم قالت بريقها فقصعته ؛ قال ابن الأثير أي مصعته ودلكته بظفرها، ويروى مصعته، بالميم.
And in the hadith of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: None of us had but one garment in which she menstruated. If something of blood touched it, she would take her saliva and Qasa'athu it; Ibn Al-Athir said: meaning she Mas'athu it and rubbed it with her fingernail. And it is narrated Mas'athu, with a mim.
وقصع الجرح «2»: شرق بالدم.
And the wound Qasa'at: it bled with blood.
وتقصع الدمل بالصديد إذا امتلأ منه، وقصع مثله.
And the boil Taqassa'a with pus if it filled with it, and Qasa'a similarly.
ويقال: قصعته قصعا وقمعته قمعا بمعنى واحد.
And it is said: I Qasa'athu him Qas'an and Qama'thu him Qam'an with one meaning.
وقصع الرجل بيته إذا لزمه ولم يبرحه؛ قال ابن الرقيات: إني لأخلي لها الفراش، إذا ... قصع في حضن عرسه الفرق
And the man Qasa'a his house if he stayed in it and did not leave it; Ibn Al-Ruqayyat said: I make the bed for her, when ... he Qasa'a in the embrace of his wife, the difference.
والقصعة والقصعاء والقاصعاء: جحر يحفره اليربوع، فإذا فرغ ودخل فيه سد فمه لئلا يدخل عليه حية أو دابة، وقيل: هي باب جحره ينقبه بعد الداماء في مواضع أخر، وقيل: القاصعاء والقصعة فم جحر اليربوع أول ما يبتدئ في حفره، ومأخذه من القصع وهو ضم الشيء على الشيء، وقيل: قاصعاؤه تراب يسد به باب الجحر، والجمع قواصع، شبهوا فاعلاء بفاعلة وجعلوا ألفي التأنيث بمنزلة الهاء.
And Al-Qas'ah, Al-Qas'a', and Al-Qasi'a': a burrow dug by a gerbil, and when it finishes and enters it, it seals its mouth so that a snake or an animal does not enter it. And it was said: It is the door of its burrow that it digs after the dam'a' in other places. And it was said: Al-Qasi'a' and Al-Qas'ah are the mouth of the gerbil's burrow when it first begins to dig it, and its origin is from Al-Qas'a, which is pressing something onto something. And it was said: Its Qasi'a' is dirt with which it seals the entrance of the burrow, and the plural is Qawasi'. They likened fa'alaa to fa'alah and made the two feminine alifs equivalent to haa'.
وقصع الضب: سد باب جحره، وقيل: كل ساد مقصع.
And the lizard Qasa'a: it sealed the entrance of its burrow. And it was said: Every sealer is Maqsa'.
وقصع الضب أيضا: دخل في قاصعائه؛ واستعاره بعضهم للشيطان فقال: إذا الشيطان قصع في قفاها، ... تنفقناه بالحبل التؤام قوله تنفقناه أي استخرجناه كاستخراج الضب من نافقائه.
And the lizard Qasa'a also: it entered its burrow entrance; and some of them used it metaphorically for the devil, saying: When the devil Qasa'a in its back... We extracted it with the twin rope. His saying Tanfaqqanahu means we extracted it like extracting a lizard from its burrow entrance.
ابن الأعرابي: قصعة اليربوع وقاصعاؤه أن يحفر حفيرة ثم يسد بابها؛ قال الفرزدق يهجو جريرا: وإذا أخذت بقاصعائك، لم تجد ... أحدا يعينك غير من يتقصع يقول: إنما أنت في ضعفك إذا قصدت لك كبني يربوع لا يعينك إلا ضعيف مثلك، وإنما شبههم بهذا لأنه عنى جريرا وهو من بني يربوع.
Ibn Al-A'rabi: The gerbil's Qas'ah and its Qasi'a' is to dig a hole and then seal its entrance. Al-Farazdaq said, satirizing Jarir: And if you take hold of your Qasi'a', you will not find ... anyone to help you except one who Yaqassa'u. He says: You are only in your weakness when one targets you like the Banu Yarbu', only one weak like you will help you. And he likened them to this because he meant Jarir, and he is from the Banu Yarbu'.
وقصع الزرع تقصيعا أي خرج من الأرض، قال: وإذا صار له شعب قيل: قد شعب.
And the crops Taqassa'a, meaning they emerged from the ground. He said: And when it branched, it was said: It has branched.
وقصع أول القوم من نقب الجبل إذا طلعوا.
And the first of the people Qasa'a from the mountain pass when they ascended.
وقصعت الرجل قصعا: صغرته وحقرته.
And I Qasa'athu the man Qas'an: I belittled him and humiliated him.
وفي حديث مجاهد: كان نفس آدم، عليه السلام، قد آذى أهل السماء فقصعه الله قصعة فاطمأن أي دفعه وكسره.
And in the narration of Mujahid: The soul of Adam, peace be upon him, had annoyed the inhabitants of heaven, so Allah Qasa'ahu a Qas'ah, meaning He pushed him and broke him, so he became calm.
وفي حديث الزبرقان: أبغض صبياننا إلينا الأقيصع الكمرة ، وهو تصغير الأقصع، وهو القصير القلفة فيكون طرف كمرته باديا، وروى الأقيعس الذكر.
And in the narration of Al-Zibriqan: The most hated of our boys to us is Al-Uqays' Al-Kamrah, which is the diminutive of Al-Aqsa', which is the short-foreskinned one, so the tip of his glans is visible. And it is narrated Al-Uqayyas Al-Dhakr.
