It is said 'qada'ta al-fahl' and it is when it is ignoble, so when it wants to mount the noble she-camel, its nose is struck with a spear or other until it refrains and withdraws.

وفرس قدوع: يكف بعض جريه.

And a 'qadū'' horse: it stops some of its running.

يقال مر به فرسه يقدع أي يعدو.

It is said his horse passed him 'yaqda'' meaning it was running.

وفرس قدع أي هيوب.

And a 'qada'' horse meaning it is awe-inspiring.

اقدع من هذا الشراب أي اقطع منه أي اشربه قطعا قطعا.

Drink from this beverage, meaning cut from it, meaning drink it in pieces, in pieces.

والمقدعة: عصا يقدع بها ويدفع بها الإنسان عن نفسه.

And al-miqda'ah: a stick with which one strikes and with which a person pushes himself away.

And a 'qadū'' woman: she disdains everything.

And al-taqādi': the succession and falling into evil.

And the bedding 'tataqāda'' in the fire: falling as if each one pushes its companion to precede it.

وأقدع الرجل: شتمه.

And the man 'aqda'' meaning he insulted him.

والمقادع: عوار الكلام.

And al-maqādi': the flaws of speech.

وتقادع القوم بالرماح: تطاعنوا.

And the people 'tataqāda'' with spears: they speared each other.

يحمل الناس على الصراط يوم القيامة فتتقادع بهم جنبتا الصراط تقادع الفراش في النار أي تسقطهم فيها بعضهم فوق بعض.

People will be carried over the bridge on the Day of Resurrection, and the sides of the bridge will make them 'tataqāda'' like bedding falling in the fire, meaning they will fall into it, some on top of others.

وتقادع القوم: هلك بعضهم في إثر بعض في شهر واحد أو عام واحد

And the people 'tataqāda'': some of them perished in succession in one month or one year.

وقيل: تقادع القوم تقادعا وتعادوا تعاديا مات بعضهم في إثر بعض فلم يخص يوم ولا شهر.

And it was said: the people 'tataqāda'' a 'tataqādi'' and they became enemies an 'ta'ādī', some of them died in succession, not specifying a day or a month.

والتقادع: التراجع؛ عن ثعلب.

And al-taqādi': retreating; from Tha'lab.

القدع انسلاق العين من كثرة البكاء.

Al-qad'u: the sloughing off of the eye from excessive crying.

كان عبد الله بن عمر قدعا.

Abdullah bin Omar was 'qada''.

وقد قدع، فهو قدع، وقدعت عينه تقدع قدعا: ضعفت من طول النظر إلى الشيء

And he 'qada'', so he is 'qada'', and his eye 'taqda'' a 'qad'an': it weakened from prolonged staring at something.

كم فيهم من هجين أمه أمة، ... في عينها قدع، في رجلها فدع

How many among them are of mixed parentage, their mother a slave... in her eye is 'qada'', in her leg is 'fada''.

وقدع الخمسين: جاوزها، بفتح الدال؛ عن ابن الأعرابي.

And 'qada' al-khamsīn': he surpassed fifty, with a fatha on the dal; from Ibn al-A'rabi.

He 'qada'' sixty, meaning he surpassed it.

فاحتمل أن تقدع فتقدع كما تقول قدعت الرجل عن الأمر فقدع أي كففته فكف وارتدع.

So it is possible that he 'tuqda'' and then 'taqda'' as you say 'qada'ta al-rajul 'an al-amr' so he 'qada'' meaning you stopped him, so he stopped and refrained.

وقدعت له الخمسون: دنت

And fifty 'qada'' for him, meaning it approached.

ما يسأل الناس عن سني، وقد قدعت ... لي الأربعون، وطال الورد والصدر

People do not ask about my years, and forty has 'qada'' for me, and the coming and the chest have lengthened.

قال الجرمي رواه ثعلب قدعت عن ابن الأعرابي، بضم القاف

Al-Jarmi said, narrated by Tha'lab: 'qada'tu' from Ibn al-A'rabi, with a damma on the qaf.

الأكثر في الرواية قدعت، قال ابن الأعرابي: قدعت لي أربعون أي أمضيت.

The majority in narration is 'qada'tu', Ibn al-A'rabi said: 'qada'tu li arba'ūn' meaning it passed.

يقال: قدعها أي أمضاها كما يقدع الرجل الشيء.

It is said: 'qada'aha' meaning to pass it, as a man passes something.

وقدعة اسم عنز؛ وأنشد:

And 'Qada'ah' is the name of a she-goat; and he recited:

فتنازعا شطرا لقدعة واحدا، ... فتدارآ فيه، فكان لطام

So they disputed over half of one 'Qada'ah', ... and they wrestled over it, and it was a butting.

المجول الصدرة وهي الصدار والقدعة والعدقة.
