And Al-Fari'an: the name of a land; Al-Tirmmah said: And we, O neighbor, at Al-Uqaysir here ... Tahiyyah, on the day of Al-Fari'an, without agreement.
والفرع: موضع وهو أيضا ماء بعينه؛ عن ابن الأعرابي؛ وأنشد: تربع الفرع بمرعى محمود

He said: And I read it to Abu Sa'id with a 'ayn' not dotted; Abu Sa'id said regarding the saying of Al-Hudhali: And the expanse of the star of Al-Furu' was mentioned, ... from the heat of summer, the cold of the north.
قال: هي فروع الجوزاء بالعين، وهو أشد ما يكون من الحر، فإذا جاءت الفروغ، بالغين، وهي من نجوم الدلو كان الزمان حينئذ باردا ولا فيح يومئذ.
He said: It is Furu' Al-Jawza' with 'ayn', and it is the most intense of heat. But when Al-Furugh, with 'ghayn', comes, and it is from the stars of Aquarius, the time then would be cold, and there would be no heat then.
