قال الأزهري: السياع تطيينك بالجص والطين والقير، تقول: سيعت به تسييعا أي طليت به طليا رقيقا؛

وقول رؤبة: مرسلها ماء السراب الأسيعا قال يصفه بالرقة.
And Ru'ba's saying: its flow is the thin mirage water, he described it as being thin.

وسيع الجب: طينه بطين أو جص.

وفي حديث هشام في وصف ناقة: إنها لمسياع مرياع أي تحتمل الضيعة وسوء الولاية،
And in Hisham's hadith describing a camel: She is indeed patient with neglect and poor management,
وقيل: ناقة مسياع وهي الذاهبة في الرعي.
And it was said: a female camel that wanders off for grazing.
وقال شمر: تسيع مكان تسوع، قال: وناقة مسياع تدع ولدها حتى يأكلها السبع؛
And Shamir said: she wanders like she wanders, he said: and a female camel that abandons her young until the predator eats them;
ومن الإتباع ضائع سائع ومضيع مسيع ومضياع مسياع؛
And from the reduplication is lost, flowing, and wasted, neglected, and very wasteful.
قال: ويل أم أجياد شاة شاة ممتنح ... أبي عيال، قليل الوفر، مسياع
He said: Woe to Umm Ajiad, a sheep, a sheep being milked ... a father of children, little in abundance, wasteful
وقد أضعت الشيء وأسعته.
And you have lost the thing and caused it to be lost.
ورجل مسياع: وهو المضياع للمال.
And a man who wastes money: he is the one who loses wealth.
وأساع ماله أي أضاعه.
And he wasted his money, meaning he lost it.
وتسيع البقل: هاج.
And the vegetation grew rapidly.
وأساع الراعي الإبل فساعت: أساء حفظها فضاعت وأهملها، وساعت هي تسوع سوعا.

والسياع: شجر البان، وهو من شجر العضاه له ثمر كهيئة الفستق، قال:

ولثاؤه مثل الكندر إذا جمد.
