وقيل: الزريع ما ينبت في الأرض المستحيلة مما يتناثر فيها أيام الحصاد من الحب
And it is said: 'al-zarīʿ' is what grows in the transformed land from what is scattered in it during harvest days from the seeds.
والزريعة، بتخفيف الراء، الحب الذي يزرع ولا تقل زريعة، بالتشديد، فإنه خطأ
And 'al-zarīʿah', with a light 'rā', is the seed that is planted; do not say 'zarīʿah' with a doubled 'rā', for that is an error.
والله يزرع الزرع: ينميه حتى يبلغ غايته، على المثل
And God grows the crops: He makes them grow until they reach their limit, as a metaphor.
أفرأيتم ما تحرثون أأنتم تزرعونه أم نحن الزارعون
Have you seen what you plow? Is it you who make it grow, or are We the growers?
أي أنتم تنمونه أم نحن المنمون له
Meaning, do you make it grow, or are We the ones who make it grow?
تقول للصبي: زرعه الله أي جبره الله وأنبته
You say to the child: 'Zarʿahu Allah' meaning 'May God strengthen him and make him grow'.
