ويقال: كذبت رماعته إذا حبق، وترمع في طمته تسكع في ضلالته يجيء ويذهب.

And it is said: his ramā'ah lied when he farted, and he wandered in his error, strolling in his misguidance, coming and going.

يقال: دعه يترمع في طمته، قيل: هو يتسكع في ضلالته، وقيل: معناه دعه يتلطخ بخرئه.

It is said: let him wander in his error; it was said: he strolls in his misguidance; and it was said: its meaning is let him wallow in his excrement.

ابن الأعرابي: الرمع الذي يتحرك طرف أنفه من الغضب.

Ibn al-A'rabi: al-rama' is the twitching of the tip of one's nose from anger.

ورمع أنف الرجل والبعير يرمع رمعانا وترمع، كلاهما: تحرك من غضب، وقيل: هو أن تراه كأنه يتحرك من الغضب.

وفي الحديث: أنه استب عنده رجلان فغضب أحدهما حتى خيل إلى من رآه أن أنفه يترمع ؛ قال أبو عبيد: هذا هو الصواب، والرواية يتمزع وليس يتمزع بشيء، قال الأزهري: إن صح يتمزع فإن معناه يتشقق.

And in the hadith: two men competed before him, and one of them became angry until it seemed to the one who saw him that his nose was twitching; Abu Ubaid said: this is correct, and the narration is yatamazza'u, and yatamazza'u means nothing; Al-Azharī said: if yatamazza'u is correct, its meaning is to split.

يقال: مزعت الشيء إذا قسمته، قال: وأنا أحسبه يترمع وهو أن تراه كأنه يرعد من شدة الغضب.

It is said: I split the thing if I divided it, he said: and I think he is trembling, which is that you see him as if he is shaking from intense anger.

وقبح الله أما رمعت به رمعا أي ولدته.

And may God curse the mother who gave birth to him, meaning she bore him.

والرماع: داء في البطن يصفر منه الوجه.

وأنشد ابن الأعرابي: بئس غذاء العزب المرموع ... حوأبة تنقض بالضلوع

And Ibn al-A'rabi recited: What a bad food for the bachelor who is afflicted... a liver that breaks the ribs.

واليرمع: الحصى البيض تلألأ في الشمس؛ وقال رؤبة يذكر السراب: ورقرق الأبصار حتى أفدعا ... بالبيد، إيقاد النهار اليرمعا

And al-yarma': white pebbles shimmering in the sun; and Ru'bah said, mentioning the mirage: And it dazzled the eyes until it became blinding... in the desert, the shining of the yarma' during the day.

قال اللحياني: هي حجارة لينة رقاق بيض تلمع، وقيل: هي حجارة رخوة، والواحدة من كل ذلك يرمعة.

Al-Lihyani said: they are soft, thin, white stones that gleam; and it was said: they are soft stones, and the singular of all of that is yarma'ah.

ويقال للمغموم: تركته يفت اليرمع؛ وفي مثل: كفا مطلقة تفت اليرمعا يضرب مثلا للنادم على الشيء.

And it is said to the worried person: I left him crushing the yarma'; and in a proverb: Two released hands crush the yarma', used as a metaphor for one who regrets something.

ويقال: اليرمع الخرارة التي تلعب بها الصبيان إذا أديرت سمعت لها صوتا، وهي الخذروف.
