As for the bowing (ruku'), it is for the worshipper to lower his head after the standing in which is the recitation until his back is settled in bowing.
فَالرَّاكِعُ: المُنْحَنِي فِي قَوْلِ لَبِيدٍ
And the one who bows (al-rak'i): the one who is bent over, according to Labid.
وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَنْكُبُّ لِوَجْهِهِ فَتَمَسُّ رُكْبَتُهُ الأَرْضَ أَوْ لَا تَمَسُّهَا بَعْدَ أَنْ يَخْفِضَ رَأْسَهُ، فَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ
And anything that falls on its face, and its knee touches the ground or does not touch it after it lowers its head, it is bowing.
نَهَانِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ أَوْ سَاجِدٌ
He forbade me from reciting while I am bowing or prostrating.
لَمَّا كَانَ الرُّكُوعُ والسُّجُودُ، وَهُمَا غَايَةُ الذُّلِّ والخُضُوعِ، مَخْصُوصَيْنِ بِالذِّكْرِ والتَّسْبِيحِ نَهَاهُ عَنِ القِرَاءَةِ فِيهِمَا
When bowing and prostration, which are the utmost of humility and submission, were designated for remembrance and glorification, he forbade him from recitation in them.

And the plural of 'rak'i' is 'ruka'' and 'ruku''.
وَكَانَتِ العَرَبُ فِي الجَاهِلِيَّةِ تُسَمِّي الحَنِيفَ رَاكِعًا إِذَا لَمْ يَعْبُدِ الأَوْثَانَ
And the Arabs in the Jahiliyyah used to call the Hanif a 'rak'i' if he did not worship idols.
وتَقُولُ: رَكَعَ إِلَى اللهِ
And they would say: he bowed to God.
إِلَى رَبِّهِ رَبِّ البَرِيَّةِ رَاكِعٌ
To his Lord, the Lord of creation, he is bowing.
ويُقَالُ: رَكَعَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا افْتَقَرَ بَعْدَ غِنًى وانْحَطَّتْ حَالُهُ
And it is said: a man bowed when he became poor after wealth and his condition declined.
وَلا تُهِنِ الفَقِيرَ، عَلَّكَ أَنْ ... تَرْكَعَ يَوْمًا، والدَّهْرُ قَدْ رَفَعَهُ
And do not humiliate the poor, perhaps you will one day bow (fall into poverty), and time has raised him.
والرُّكُوعُ: الانْحِنَاءُ، ومِنْهُ رُكُوعُ الصَّلَاةِ
And bowing (al-ruku'): is bending, and from it is the bowing of prayer.
وَرُكِعَ الشَّيْخُ: انْحَنَى مِنَ الكِبَرِ
And the old man became bent: he bent from old age.
