وهو يومئذ جميع أي مجتمع الخلق قوي لم يهرم ولم يضعف
And he was then jamī', meaning of assembled creation, strong, not aged nor weakened.
كان إذا مشى مشى مجتمعا
When he walked, he walked assembled (strongly).
إن خلق أحدكم يجمع في بطن أمه أربعين يوما
Indeed, the creation of one of you is gathered in the womb of his mother for forty days.
ورجل جميع الرأي ومجتمعه: شديده ليس بمنتشره.
And a man of firm and collected opinion: strong, not scattered.
المسجد الجامع: الذي يجمع أهله
The congregational mosque: is that which gathers its people.
وذلك دين القيمة
And that is the religion of the upright community.
جماع كل شيء: مجتمع خلقه.
The essence of everything: is the gathering of its creation.
وجماع جسد الإنسان: رأسه.
And the essence of the human body: is its head.
وجماع الثمر: تجمع براعيمه في موضع واحد على حمله
And the essence of the fruit: is the gathering of its buds in one place on its branch.

And a head like the gathering of the Pleiades.
حويته غشاشا بمجتاب الصفاقين خيفق
I possessed it deceitfully, by the one who traverses the two layers of skin, a swift one.
والجماع: أخلاط من الناس
And the jamā': are mixtures of people.
حتى انتهينا، ولنا غاية، من بين جمع غير جماع
Until we reached, and we had a goal, from among a gathering that was not a multitude.
وجعلناكم شعوبا وقبائل
And We made you peoples and tribes.
كان في جبل تهامة جماع غصبوا المارة
There was in the mountain of Tihamah a multitude who robbed passersby.
وامرأة جماع: قصيرة.
And a short woman: short.
وكل ما تجمع وانضم بعضه إلى بعض جماع.
And everything that gathers and joins some of it to some is a collection.
وذهب الشهر بجمع وجمع أي أجمع.
And the month went by completely, meaning entirely.
وضربه بحجر جمع الكف وجمعها أي ملئها.
And he struck him with a stone filling the palm and its fullness, meaning filling it.
وهو حين تقبضها.
And it is when you clench it.
فقلت: انجوا عنها نجا الجلد، إنه سيرضيكما منها سنام وغاربه
So I said: Escape from it like the escape of the skin, for it will satisfy you with its hump and its back.
رأيت خاتم النبوة كأنه جمع
I saw the Seal of Prophethood as if it were a fistful.
وجاء فلان بقبضة ملء جمعه
And so-and-so came with a handful filling his collection.
وما فعلت بي ذاك حتى تركتها،
And you did not do that to me until you left her,
تقلب رأسا مثل جمعي عاريا
Turning a head like my collection, naked.
وجمعة من تمر أي قبضة منه.
And a handful of dates, meaning a fistful of it.
فصلى المغرب فلما انصرف درأ جمعة من حصى المسجد
So he prayed the Maghrib, and when he finished, he swept a handful of pebbles from the mosque.
أعطني جمعة من تمر، وهو كالقبضة.
Give me a handful of dates, and it is like a fistful.
وأمر بني فلان بجمع وجمع، فلا تفشوه
And the matter of so-and-so's family was kept secret and secret, so do not reveal it.
ومنهم أن تموت المرأة بجمع
And among them is that a woman dies with her child (unborn).
أيما امرأة ماتت بجمع لم تطمث دخلت الجنة
Any woman who dies with her child (unborn) and has not menstruated will enter Paradise.
ما جمعت بامرأة قط
I have never collected from a woman.
وباتت فلانة منه بجمع وجمع أي بكرا لم يقتضها.
And so-and-so spent the night with him as a virgin, meaning she was not consummated.
إني منه بجمع وجمع أي عذراء لم يقتضني.
Indeed, I am from him with virginity, meaning a virgin who has not consummated me.
وماتت المرأة بجمع وجمع أي ماتت وولدها في بطنها، وهي بجمع وجمع أي مثقلة.
And the woman died with her child (unborn), meaning she died with her child in her belly, and she was burdened.
وماتت النساء بأجماع، والواحدة بجمع، وذلك إذا ماتت وولدها في بطنها
And women died with their children (unborn), and one of them with her child (unborn), and that is when she died with her child in her belly.
طلقت بجمع أي طلقت وهي عذراء.
She was divorced with virginity, meaning she was divorced while she was a virgin.
